NCIS Finale
FINALE SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT!
First off let me just say that I really liked this episode on a lot of levels overall.
Jenny aka THE BIG DEATH
Okay - I am SO not a Jenny fan, so her death did not phase me in the least. Sorry to anyone that offends - but I didn't like her character. Season 3 she was okay, I liked the humor and the history with her and Gibbs. But then Season 4 she just went psycho (I think it was the hair cut) with the whole "frog" thing. Then Season 5 the writers conveniently forgot about the ending to S4 and tried to make her all nice nice again. Her character has not been consistent enough for me to invest in emotionally. And they were still inconsistent to the end with the whole mystery illness thing that they never identified. Bad writers. No cookies for you.
The Team Splitup
The beginning of the eppy was forshadowing :) But I think there had to be some sort of repercussion for them breaking the rules this time. All of them (with the exception of Ducky and Palmer, although an argument could be made about Ducky) lied to a superior (Gibbs and/or Vance), and did things off grid. It wasn't going to be "business as usual". The Director of NCIS was dead. Heads had to roll, and they ALL got busted.
Gibbs
This was TOTALLY Mark Harmon's Emmy episode - the scene in autopsy with the body bag? the scene with the the bullet/jar of bourbon in his basement? Pure Emmy gold.
But enough about MH, lets talk about Gibbs. This is the second woman that he's loved that has died violently. (and if you changed loved to "had strong feelings about" we can include Kate to make it three. And I'm not including Kelly because that's a whole other level of pain/grief). The scene in Autopsy with the body bag was just intense. And the scenes before that in his basement were also intense. I think for me the first time in three seasons that I actually *saw* the depth of what Gibbs feels/felt for Jenny was in S5's Dog Tags when he asked her if she was sick, he looked like he had been punched in the gut. And it tied in nicely with his reactions in Judgement Day. He doesn't let his feelings out, especially feelings he either can't or won't act on, so to see those glimpses of them was an interesting look at his character.
The whole alpha male display between him and Vance could get old VERY quickly.
I *really* enjoy Mike Franks character and how he interacts with Gibbs, excuse me, Jethro. I love that he calls him Jethro :) and PROBIE! lol... But seriously, the idea that there is no one either of them would trust more to watch their backs is great. There is a trust there that is just absolute.
Tony
I was so fixated on Gibbs as I watched the episode I almost missed out on Tony! For shame! My poor sweet babboo!
The guilt over this one is going to eat at him. And I hope that the bottle binge in autopsy was just that, a quick belt to steady the nerves, and not the precursor to a S6 "Tony's a raving alcoholic". Other shows have tried that with horrific results (ie Without A Trace anyone?) ::rolls eyes::
I will have more on the Tonyness after I rewatch the finale. I especially want to rewatch that Tony/Ziva scene in autopsy.

The McGee/Abby dynamic was fantastic!

Season 6 predictions/thoughts
I think the team split up is going to give the writers a little room to play in the first few episodes (before they put'em back together) - Tony afloat will be awesome!!
I'm hoping Nikki Jardine ends up on Gibbs team - I really like her.
The mystery doc that Vance shredded will be back.
Vance will go. away. (asap please) - and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE to see Langer step in as Director ;D Or at the very least come back to NCIS - WOOT
Somebody's gonna marry Ziva so she can stay in the US- my money's on Tony (or maybe Gibbs) ^_^
Anywho - that's what I think, take it for what it's worth. I'll post more after a re-watch ^_^
