Prince of Tennis Musical - Challenge ~ Subete wa Shouri no Tame ni (lyrics/ translation)

When the door opens onto that long night, Sam knows it’s true: he will always be leaving. Sure, they’ll say it’s the last time but it never is, how can it be when even in heaven, in the last refuge of all that has been, here’s the road that took him away? It’s there too in his brother’s eyes, this realization of perpetual motion, the way he needs to say no but can’t.

So when he’s putting on his coat and Dean tells him don’t go and don’t come back, he walks away, he does, because he’s heard it before.

John Barry - Florida Fantasy (clip with its use in Midnight Cowboy)

The Florida air hangs hot and heavy in the Impala even with the windows down, the wind around Lake Wales bogged down by sand. There’s a white line that cuts across the road so Dean stops, shifts into neutral and waits for the push. Sam feels the slow roll first; gravity’s got their wheels and they’re sliding down. They were supposed to go up, Sam can see it in the scowl on Dean’s face; this is just another tourist joke but that’s all right-not every ghost has to be real. And then Jess is there in the rear-view mirror.

K. D. Lang - Big Boned Gal (lyrics)

“C’mon Sammy, dance with me.” Dean’s smirking, but the press of fingertips against her wrist tells Sam he’s serious.
“Really? In a place so rural it’s got a dance hall? Anyway, I don’t think I p-”
“Fuck that! You’re tall, you’re pretty-” Dean holds up a hand when Sam opens her mouth. “Own it. And your hair’s looking mighty nice tonight,” he drawls, grinning.
Sam huffs, half amused, and hands the razor to Dean. “Fine, but not without shaving first.” Then his mouth’s tracking the stubble along her jaw and, in this moment anyway, her body is okay.

Queen - Save Me (lyrics)

There are places, rooms and fields, where you die, and he’s there every time. He dies too, but it’s not the same. You went first and he’s just following after, the two of you trying to fix this over and over. Then you’re given the chance to break the cycle and you take it, you say yes because you love him and want him to be saved.

You can feel the pulse of his throat under your foot, the swallowed words. But he’s still there, he’s looking at you, and there’s no way to win but you can’t say sorry.

-

Nick Drake - Place to Be (lyrics)

They’re not done. He knows this, can feel the weight of things hanging in the sky ahead, but Dean’s fingers are light on the steering wheel, taking them through one rolling stop after another, and he wouldn’t mind if it ended like this. It’s Tuesday, bright and humid, and Sam can still see the bones in his brother’s face.

Dean talking about Vonnegut as he drives with one hand hanging out the open window, the way the green in his eyes kaleidoscopes sometimes-Sam needs this, these long close hours and the warm ache that comes dragging along with them.
