Happy Birthday, Evil!Sammy Universe! <3
Seven years ago today, I embarked on the wild ride that is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) for the first time. And on my very first day, I wrote a 420-word story inspired by a humorous list of suggestions for Evil Empresses. "Don't sleep with the hunky hero before the evil plan is executed," it said. So I thought, "Well, what about during or after the execution of the evil plan?"
So this happened: The Heat Outside Would Never Warm Him (PG-13, Slash: Sam/Dean)
I had no idea just how much darkness and angst (and kink and smut) would spiral out from that ONE story. But by the end of that first month I'd written nine stories in this universe and plotted out more than twenty others. Seven years and sixteen more stories later, the Evil!Sammy Universe now holds almost 240,000 words. That's almost three full novels! And we still have more of this world to explore!
I'm excited to say that I just acquired a beta for the next major installment, "Going Down." So this post isn't just to celebrate the past but also to ready the glitter and confetti for the future! And the best way to celebrate? RE/READ PARTY!
I've grown and learned a lot in writing this 'verse and find that some stories remain my favorites and/or reader favorites, the real heart of the 'verse. These are my recs for ESU newbies and veterans alike who maybe don't have the time to re/read the universe in its entirety but want a review (listed in their original posting order, see the ESU index page for chronology):
