[team two] Tokyo Dollhouse - Contact
It’s been a while, but I missed writing! *waves*
This verse is based off of Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse series. It would definitely help if you’ve seen the show or have read the other fics in this verse. Tottsu was a doll and Kitayama was his handler. Fujigaya is the head of the Tokyo Dollhouse.
You can do this, Totsuka tells himself for what feels like the millionth time and yet he hesitates before finally stepping into the polished lobby. As he walks up to the reception desk, he thinks, not for the first time, that he’s not entirely sure what he’s expecting here. Nevertheless, he asks if one Kitayama Hiromitsu is available and waits while the woman behind the desk picks up the phone to check.
In all honestly, he expects to be turned away. He’s certain that coming to the Dollhouse is not what Fujigaya meant when he gave his unspoken approval for Totsuka to pursue his former handler, but he doesn’t know how else he’s supposed to make contact.
The receptionist puts the phone down and with a pleasant smile informs Totsuka that he can take the elevator up to Mr. Fujigaya’s office.
As the empty elevator climbs higher and higher, Totsuka muses that he shouldn’t be surprised by the turn of events. The doors slide open smoothly and there Fujigaya is, waiting for him.
“Mr. Fujigaya,” he greets politely.
Fujigaya tilts his head and gives him a look. “A bit early for another check up, I’d say. Months even.”
“What can I say? I was so late for my last one.” There’s no one else in sight, but he plays along with whatever game Fujigaya seems to be playing.
He gets an approving nod before Fujigaya is pulling out a card from his pocket. He toys with it for a second, flipping it over in his hands. “Well, you can contact this person here if there’s something you need until your next official appointment.”
Totsuka looks at the business card being offered. His eyes flicker up to Fujigaya before returning to the card. He accepts the card carefully as if it were going to disappear. “Thank you.”
Fujigaya reaches around him to call the elevator. “Don’t mention it. Really.”
The elevator doors slide open and Totsuka bows with gratitude until the doors close. With a shaky breath, he looks at the card and sure enough, it’s Kitayama’s and on the back in neat handwriting is a cellphone number.
He doesn’t know what he’ll say but he doesn’t intend on letting this opportunity slip through his fingertips.
