[Team 1] otaku parade

The Promised Land is discreet and unassuming and seven stories high, tucked between similarly tall, lean buildings along a busy walkway in Akihabara.
Miyata's been there before, of course. He's investigated the shelves like a hungry detective in search for limited edition sets with the extras intact: a clearfile of his favorite character, a keychain to add to his collection, maybe that sticker set he's hoping to decorate his desk at home with. It's the first time he's gone with someone from the company -- a senpai, even -- but Yokoo had asked him to fill in (one of the dogs had gotten sick and was threatening chaos throughout the house) and Miyata had been meaning to go shopping anyway. It would end up working out, maybe.
Ninomiya slides in next to him, eyeing the glossy box sets in front of them with perfunctory curiosity. "This isn't my section, but I have to respect it," he says with a nod. "I'm looking for a present for Jun-kun, so I might head to the game floor in a minute."
Miyata wants to keep him there and tell him everything he knows, give him a dozen recommendations, tap into that otaku side he knows a gamer is capable of. Instead he thinks of Yokoo nursing his dogs at home, probably taking breaks to pray to Johnny himself that Miyata doesn't mess things up with his favorite senpai. "I'll come with you."
Ninomiya's posture straightens and his eyebrows hop excitedly. "You like games, too? You must like games. Or maybe you're thinking of getting something for that Tamamori. I bet he likes games. He's a boy. He must like games." Ninomiya continues to rattle on into the air as he leads them toward the escalator, weaving between figurine collectors and back cover readers. Miyata suddenly feels like an RPG character, exactly one square space behind the leader of the party, and he thinks that maybe it's by design.
"We'll come back up in a bit, okay?" Ninomiya offers as they settle onto adjacent steps, and there's that unexpectedly attentive side that Yokoo had warned him about. Ninomiya acts cocky sometimes, but he's a kind person under all those layers. "You'll have some recommendations for me, won't you?"
Miyata nods sharply. Oh, he will.
