Chanyeol-centric, G, 326 words
Did he imagine it? Was he overthinking or overreacting? Chanyeol wasn't sure. He sat down on a folding chair by the makeup table and kept eyeing Baekhyun who was talking with the photographer across the studio.
They were reshooting a couple of outfit pictures for the new collection. It was the first actual work day since the LA trip. It had been two weeks.
They hadn't really talked since then. Chanyeol had sent a couple of laid-back messages to Baekhyun after that, but Baekhyun's responses had been shorter and somehow less enthusiastic than before. Chanyeol had thought it was just because the other was busy.
But now, Baekhyun had barely greeted him when he had arrived, hadn't really looked at Chanyeol at all, which was weird. And now he was promptly staying as far as Chanyeol as possible. Why? Had he done something? He had thought that despite what had happened in LA, they would still continue like before. On good terms and definitely not like strangers.
Chanyeol was still looking at Baekhyun and when he saw that the other seemed like he was leaving, he jumped up from his chair. Trying to come up with something sensible to say, he hurried after Baekhyun, who was already walking away.
"Baekhyun," he called and watched the other turn around.
Baekhyun was smiling but it somehow seemed a bit strained. Something was definitely off. Chanyeol's stomach dropped.
"Um, we were talking about updating my contract, so I was wondering if we could-?"
"I'm so sorry, but I have to run to a meeting now," Baekhyun cut him off. "Let's talk about it some other day, or if I'm not available, I'll have Jongdae contact you, ok? See you."
And with that, with one last fake smile, Baekhyun turned around and left. Surprisingly the polite, matter-of-fact speaking style hurt even more than the earlier ignoring.
Chanyeol was left standing there for a good minute, feeling empty, confused and sad.
