For Ziya, because she deserves a little something for putting up with me.

Cissie waited at the corner of Chester Avenue in her best dress (a blue number that had actually been in her closet for three years, and now instead of touching her ankles, went a little below her knees) and heels. She had her strawberry-shampoo smelling hair back, hiding the messy shape she'd left it in by smoothing it all back with a signature hairband.
She'd been a little more than flustered when Bart Allen had called her up one morning, babbling about the Titans and pancakes, and how he wondered if a bird could really carry a message all the way from New York to Hong Kong like he learned about on this documentary on the history channel (but he admitted that it had been really shorter distance for the bird to travel, but still...) and wouldn't it be cool if dogs could talk kind of like Beast Boy did and hey, would she like to get together some time so they could talk?
Cissie had almost dropped the phone in surprise. She'd even ended a sentence on "uh wuh?" But she'd regained her composure by envisioning what Wendy the Wolf Stalker would do...be totally cool.
So Cissie had tried to be totally cool. Which had ended up with pretty much her acting totally not cool. She had stumbled over her words, made some bad sentences, and probably ended so many of her statements with a "challenge me?" attitude. But Bart, being the oblivious boy that he was, said, "Great! Meet me at Chester Avenue and we can then go grab pizza or something!"
So here Cissie King-Jones was. Waiting at Chester Avenue, in her best dress, trying to not look awkward (which she mentally laughed at, because she was practically exuding awkward.)
Cissie looked at her wrist watch, furrowing her brow, worried. Did he forget? She looked around, biting her lower lip, seeing only the usual people on the street, and then looked down at her feet.
A million reasons for why Bart Allen was not showing up came to mind: evil to thwart? Team fight? Bart and Beast Boy earning the wrath of Starfire for destroying her garden (he'd told her about that)? Many, many, many reasons swam in her head, narrowing into more negative connotations.
But just as she was ready to believe that he didn't want to see her, a huge gust of wind blew by...and suddenly she was moving faster than the speed of sound, held against something warm.
"Hi, Cissie! You've gotten heavier! Ready for pizza?"
She had to resist giving him a thump on the head for mentioning her weight.
