Querl didn't know Nura's world of perfume, glitter, clouds, skies, and dreams. He was used to the cold, steel, science, and astrophysics of his world.
She didn't think so. She thought he could be more than that. She bought him nice-looking shirts (in every tint of the color purple) that he had to button up. Slicked back his hair in the morning with her fine-toothed comb and her nimble, soft fingers. She kissed his cheek and there'd be a hint of her Chanel perfume there.
On Colu things were very Spartan-no makeup, no bright colors, no pastels, no glitter, no perfume, no nothing that would exemplify synthetic beauty. Querl isn't used to being called handsome, not used to Nura wanting to get under his shirt every now and then in the lab (where the setting was usually sterile), and not used to the scent of perfume sticking to him when Nura was close to him.
She liked him to be confident about himself. To be the man she knew he could be and she knew he (somewhere deep down if he wasn't so stubborn about it) wanted to be. What the clothes and the touch-ups did on the outside only reflected what was on the inside (her motto).
He was her husband and she was his wife. They loved each other (and he'd send any Legionnairre to Carr in a viel of mistake if they ever found that amusing. Nura was glitter, clouds, skies and dreams, but Querl still used some steel).
