I hadn't even heard of this until I read about it on Verla's -- but it's interesting that people believe this. As I mentioned there, I don't think an author has that much power (first of all), nor do I think they could do that much damage (um, taking the huge assumption 'they' existed). But people who insist on trashing authors or books are showing their own character -- and that's what will do them in (if anything does).
