Happy Birthday to Me!
Today is the big 3-0. Feels pretty much like 2-9, only now I actually sound older when someone asks my age.
I've been setting some goals for myself. There were things I wanted to accomplish in my twenties, some of which I did, and some that I didn't. Finishing my novel was the big one I didn't hit, but rather than stress over it, I've just decided I'll finish it this year. That is, the year I'm 30...so I have until this time in 2011. While I was at it, I decided to lay out a few other things I wanted to do this year, and for now the list is:
Finish my second screenplay
Finish at least one of my ongoing fan fics
Participate in 1 or 2 fan fic exchanges (no more!)
Post more regularly on LJ
I'm sure I'll come up with other things as the year progresses, but that's it for now.

While I was at it, I decided to lay out a few other things I wanted to do this year, and for now the list is:
- Finish my first novel
- I've finally almost got the thing pared down to just what can be saved, which is about 25,000 words. This will be approximately my 4th rendition of it, the longest of which was about 60,000 words before I stopped and started again.
- Have another particularly exciting project in the works, too, so there's hope that it could also make it to the rough draft stage (at least) this year. I'd be okay with either of these getting finished.
- The first was quite a few years ago, and definitely not salable. I have one that's floundering at about 60 pages (half finished), so I hope I can finally take that one across the finish line.
- This is an especially tough one. I have two pretty sizeable stories that I haven't touched in two years now, and I'd really like to complete at least one of them. I think they're both around halfway finished at 30,000-ish words each.
- I went a little overboard with this last year, but I really do think it would be something I'd enjoy if I kept it small. There's something challenging and rewarding about writing a story of someone else's request, but too much of it sort of ruins the fun.
- Considering my last post was at Halloween? Yeah, I need to work on this one a little.
I'm sure I'll come up with other things as the year progresses, but that's it for now.
