Writer's Block: Just Don't Do This tangy_lilac January 29 2016, 13:07:43 UTC
I used to think that working and saving up was really important. I don't deny that saving and being financially smart is important. However, at the same time, I feel this way of thinking has also prevented me from certain experiences in life. You see, when I was a student, I felt that I should spend my vacation working to save up, rather than take up travel opportunities with my friends. Now that I am no longer a student, I realise that the amount of money I saved up really is not so significant, and yet nowadays, coordinating scheduling so that my friends and I can travel together is so much harder to come by!

Another thing that I know now, which I did not when I was 18 is this: it does not matter if you don't know exactly what you want to do right after high school. It's okay if your first choice of profession is not what you thought it would be and it's okay if it takes you a little longer than your peers to find the profession you are truly passionate about. I know when I was in year 12, I was told all these things. Did I believe it then? No. Now I realise the reason why everyone says it is because it is true!
