Title: Undifined,
Themes: Adventure, Mystery, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Romance (Fantasy and sci-fi because i'm not entirely sure which it fits into.)
This peice also works as an introduction to the Empty World and The Wanderers
it's not finished, it's an intoduction.
It began as a description, i had this world in my head but i had no stories so i started that. Now i have something.

WIP Chapter One

“No one has seen the whole of the records. You could walk from one end of the hall to the other, yes. But see every section? Know every walkers name? Even to see all the levels is an amazing achievement. It has been centuries, most likely millennia since all the levels have been seen any one person.

The floors are organised by language. Oh no! Not a floor to a language! There are far too many for that! This whole block is in English. Most are in that language. But we have a whole floor dedicated to Gallifreyan accounts, but they are very rare; barely half the shelves are filled. We also have a few floors for Dwarvish, separated into further sections for Tolkiens, Paolini, etc. It can be quite complicated, but it comes naturally to a few.

Some like to call this the never-ending library. We are constantly building up and down just to house all these accounts. Yes, it’s necessary! We use all of this to train new Agents. The Agents look after the Mirror Walkers and other Wanderers. Trouble follows all types of Wanderer, and they can’t always sweep up the rubble. I know for a fact the Doctor refuses our help. He decides to just leave everyone at the scene. Now if we let everyone do that where would we be? ”

The Chronicler put down the folder she held and led the Trainee away from the main desk. “Come look.” The Trainee did, following his newest teacher blindly.

Past ten rows of tall cupboards, there was a black railing. Beyond it, nothing. Here, the floor stopped. Very few choose to look up or down here. Hundreds and hundreds of floors either way often made even the least scared a little nauseous. The Chronicler saw this every day; it no longer phased her in the same way.

“Did your Tutor tell you any specific Agents they wanted you to see?”

The trainee shook his head, and followed the Chronicler as she led him away from the edge, and weaved in and out of shelves and cupboards.

“Well. Maria Goldburn, you need to know about her. Philip Da’Scie. You will like Damian Canstel; He used to dress as a stereotypical wizard. He would set events in motion so that his wards wouldn’t get into trouble, even if it took him years. He used science and masked it as magic.”

The trainee smiled; yes, he did like the sound of Agent Canstel. He had the right idea, the trainee thought.

“Special Agent Goldburn will have to come first. She is one of our most famous.”

“Chronicler?”

“Yes?” The Chronicler stopped and turned to face her new pupil.

“Why is she a ‘Special Agent’?”

She worked as an Agent for over 50 Years. Almost half this whole floor is dedicated to her history and her wards. By the time you’ve worked for even 10 years you’ll have at least two stands worth.”

“I hope I can be a Special Agent some day.” The young boy smiled.

This was the part the Chronicler liked about working in the Record Halls. The young recruits loved learning about the different Agents and Wards. Only in this world, The Empty World, were the Agents’ names more famous than the Wards.

“Chronicler?”

“Yes?”

“What is your name? My tutor won’t tell me his; I just call him Agent.”

The Chronicler was taken aback. Who asked for a teacher’s name?! It’s not that it’s forbidden, or taboo; just unheard of. This one had spirit! She could tell that he would do well as an Agent; if he could take the ignorance and discredit.

“My name is Jane. Jane Rauche. Nice to meet you.” The Chronicler held out her hand for her student to shake.

The Boy smiled and shook it enthusiastically.

~~~
I know it's not much. It's my first Wanderers story set here. I mention a few things, and they're to do with the main theme. Wanderers are people who can travel from one world to another, Agents look after these people (like cleaning up any messes created etc.).
This is set in a 'Wolfram & Hart' type organisation.
