All his life he's been masquerading. Masquerading as an Asgardian, without his knowledge at first, and from then every image of him was faked.
At every level he's masked. You can peel them off, but it doesn't matter how deep you go, you'd never truly find the real Loki. He is always, and forever will be masquerading as something or someone else.
