"It's time for your SOS Brigade membership drive reports!" Haruhi declared. "Do you have any potential recruits for us, Mikuru-chan?"
Mikuru answered timidly. "Um... I asked my friend Tsuruya if she might be interest in joining our club, especially since she already played baseball with us."
"And?" Haruhi said expectantly.
"She laughed at me," Mikuru said sadly. "In fact, she laughed so loudly for so long that she became dizzy, and she had to go to the nurse's office and lie down for awhile."
That reaction might have been expected, Kyon thought to himself, and for two or three reasons.
