Kradam Drabbles

Title: Itunes ficlet drabble thing
Pairing: Kris/Adam, Kris/Katy and Kris/Adam friendship
Rating: G
Summary:  Just a bunch of little ficlets. I've never done these before, so I'm sorry if they suck.
Disclamer: Unfortunately, I do not own Kris, Adam, or anyone else in this story. Nor do I own any of the songs, or anything recognizable from American Idol or Ford. I barely own the plotline, as its based on the show. Adam and Kris belong completely to themselves, and each other.

Innocence - Avril Lavigne

It’s the state of bliss, you think you’re dreaming.
It’s the happiness inside that you’re feeling.

Kris’s hands strummed absentmindedly on his guitar, an amused smile touching his lips as he listened to Danny and Matt’s half-hearted bickering over the outcome of a Guitar Hero game. Ali and Megan sat on the couch watching the game and eating popcorn. The handlers had wanted them to stay on the girls’ bus, but they had quarantined themselves in Adam’s bunk until the handlers finally gave up and let them stay.

“Penny for your thoughts.” Kris heard a familiar voice behind him and turned, his hands stilling on the guitar. Adam grinned down at him from his perch on the edge of the table.

“They’re worth more than a penny,” Kris said jokingly. Though, maybe not so jokingly. He wouldn’t give up this moment of silently enjoying the reality of touring with these friends for anything in the world. Much less a penny.

Strange - Reba McEntire

One the phone with my best friend
Cussing my ex.
He broke my heart.
Felt like the world had ended.
I cried myself to sleep
Thinking I can‘t get over him.

He’s not worth it. He was never worth. Ever. Not from the very first moment. He wasn’t worth a single promise. He wasn’t worth a second glance. He wasn’t worth a first date, and he wasn’t worth a first kiss. He wasn’t worth a moment of time. He wasn’t worth so long together. He wasn’t worth the smiles. He wasn’t worth the subtle kisses, or the not-so-subtle glances at dinner. He wasn’t worth the proud family members, or the meeting-the-parents nerves. And more than anything, he wasn’t worth the tears.

At least, that’s what Katy told herself.

Here I Go Again - Casting Crowns

I thought about skipping this one, cause I didn’t want anyone to give me crap for having a Christian song on here, but I figured, part of being a writer is pushing the envelope, right? So go on and yell at me if you want, but as soon as I heard the song, the scene was writing itself in my head. But feel free to skip this one and just go read the next one.

So maybe this time
I'll speak the words of life
With Your fire in my eyes
But that old familiar fear
Is tearin' at my words
What am I so afraid of?”

Kris sang the words under his breath, eyes closed against the tears that threatened. It had been bothering him a lot lately. Ever since he went home and heard his preacher’s sermon. Yeah, he heard it all the time, it wasn’t uncommon words t hear from the man’s mouth. But he was talking about witnessing, and asking people to raise their hands if they wanted to see their best friends go to hell. Of course it had been dead silent, and everyone was afraid to move a muscle. But the words still bothered Kris, weeks later while they were out on tour.

Granted, he had tried to talk to Adam. They had talked religion before, but nothing deep. More just talking about how they were raised, and Adam mentioning a play he was in called “The Ten Commandments.” Kris strummed the last few notes and his voice died away with the sounds. He dried his eyes quickly when he heard movement outside. He glanced up to see Adam looking at him seriously. The older man held up an old beaten up Bible that Kris realized he’d left on the table earlier.

Kris had no idea what to expect, but what happened wasn’t exactly what he would’ve expected, if it had been anything. Ignoring the way his mind refused to make sense, Kris just let his eyes follow Adam as the man sat at the foot of his bunk and handed him the weathered Bible. “So talk.”

Things I’ll Never Say - Avril Lavigne

If I could say what I wanna see,
I wanna see you go down
On one knee
Marry me today
Yes, I’m wishing my life away
With these things I‘ll never say

“Those are from the Homecoming game my senior year,” Kris said, pointing at the pictures on the left page of the album. Adam shifted his position slightly to get more comfortable, though it wasn’t very easy when they were squeezed into a single bunk. Adam glanced back at the photo album again, his eyes falling to the right page. Wedding pictures. As Kris went through, pointing at different ones and laughing over inside jokes he would never understand, Adam tried yet again to submerge the feelings that he knew were wrong.

Well, maybe not wrong, who was he to say? Was it wrong that he was so jealous of Katy? Was it wrong that he imagined he was the one in those pictures, wrapped in Kris’ arms? Was it wrong that he had to keep from clenching his fist at the picture of their first kiss as husband and wife? Well, it probably was.

“Adam?” Kris’s voice broke through his thoughts, and Adam looked up, forcing a smile at him. “What’s up?”

Adam just shrugged, “Just thinking,” he said nonchalantly.

“About what?” Kris asked, never one to drop such things.

Adam weighed the consequences of his answer, deciding whether or not he should just be honest, but in the end just muttered, “Nothing.”

No Surprise - Daughtry

I’ve practiced this for hours, gone round and round
And now I think that I’ve got it all down
And as I say it louder I love how it sounds
Cause I’m not taking the easy way out
Not wrapping this in ribbons
Shouldn’t have to give a reason why

Kris wrapped his arms around Katy’s small frame, rubbing her back as he tears soaked through his shirt. As much as he still loved her and cared for her, was she really surprised by this? They knew it was coming. It had been coming for weeks now. Months, if Kris was being honest with himself. Since the moment he met Adam. But Katy had tried to turn a blind eye to all of it, and this was where it had led him.

“Hey, Baby,” Kris said softly, pulling back to look at her, “I know it’s hard, but, I think this will be better for both of us in the long run.”

“Both of us, or just you?” Katy asked spitefully.

“Both of us,” Kris answered back without missing a beast, “You deserve so much more than I can give you.”

Katy’s body racked with sobs, as new tears met the paths of those before, “Go,” she pushed at his shoulders. She had only whispered the word, but Kris felt like she was screaming it at him.

Kris bit his lip, unsure of what to do. She looked up at him, trying to glare at him, though the anger didn’t quite reach her eyes. He knew the look all too well from her. She’d given it to so many people thst had hurt her before. It was the look that said she was trying with all her power to hate him, but just couldn’t quite do it. Kris finally stood and grabbed his bags, “Bye Katy,” he whispered as he left, letting the door click shut behind him.

Author's Note: Ok, I'm sure people will be nicer than the grill me for doing the one Christian song, but for some reason I'm still really nervous about it. Don't kill me??
