Camera course

I took a photography course yesterday, courtesy of Groupon (£32.50 for a £180 course). It was a fantastic experience. It was a half day thing; we started out the afternoon covering some of the settings on a camera (this course focuses on digital SLR) and how to set your camera to get the best picture possible. I leared about ISO setttings and shutter speed and aperature settings, and using different modes for the priority of one or another of those settings. We worked in manual though, learning how to adjust all three settings to get the perfect picture. We learned where light should fall to have "good light" verus "bad light." We learned how to take good flash shots, underexposing the picture setting wise on the camera and using a flash to supply light instead of lens size or any other factor.

We had a lot of practical practice, using a human model for the most part. I did take pictures of some other things in and around the hotel we were having the course in. I learned a ton, and had a blast.

I also learned that going out for a half day of intensive learning and activity is beyond me somewhat. I came home and literally collapsed, exhausted. I've spent most of today resting, and while I was able to throw some food in the microwave for dinner yesterday, and was semi-functioning after a few hours of rest, it was still something I know I won't be able to do often. Still, I don't regret going. I can now get a lot more out of the camera, instead of just using it as a point and click thing. I'm really excited about the pictures I'll be able to get in the future.
