A sort of (failed) response to the prompts in The Challenge

Oct 30, 2011 14:12

Does being inspired by, but failing to include the prompts count?

I started off writing The Alibi with the smell of cooking bacon and furniture polish firmly in my mind. But Gaius and Gwen decided they wanted to eat stewed eel and Gwen pointed out that Gaius' table had never seen a lick of polish in its life.

So, total prompt failure ensued, although the inspiration was there.

Titles: The Alibi
Fandom: BBC Merlin
Pairings: None.
Characters: Gwen, Gaius
Rating: U/PG
Word Count: 2,395
Note: This story is from the same 'verse as my big bang story, Line of Dance, which includes M/A in an established relationship. But you don't need to have read it to understand this. You just need to know that Arthur is newly king (I've been overtaken by canon events) and has promoted Merlin to the post of Chief Counsellor. He has also gone to war, forbidding Merlin from accompanying him. But since when did Merlin listen to Arthur when he gave orders like that? And with a bit of help from his friends, he didn't need to.
Warnings: None, although there are warnings on Line of Dance
Summary: Gaius and Gwen, while the army is away.
