Food for thought...or just food!

Hi folks

Have finally got the menus from the hotel for you to look at. I have tried to make sure that everyone's needs have been taken into consideration. I shall be making the official booking for the Saturday night buffet dinner tomorrow and it will be for all of us unless I am told otherwise (sueworld2003 your meal is being catered separately). I take it that the lunch menu is the first one?

Either way, I think with beef I'll be fine. Count me in.

Are aubergines on offer or something!

It should say Sandwich Lunch £7.95...but I can't check it as the LJ layout is all squiffed on my screen.

You won't believe the negotiations entered into to get this menu! LOL

I an honestly say that aubergines are defo in season (glances at greenhouse at ours).

Okay. It's appreciated by me at least, I wasn't prepared to spend £15 on a bowl of soup again.

Both menus are quite similar though.

They are but I'm not expecting too many folk will want a 2-course lunch. The lunch menus are just something the hotel came up with. My main concern was the dinner buffet. There's quite a large selection on the bar menu.

I'd probably be happy with a packet of crisps for lunch.

I remember thismaz and I shared the three-tapas-for-£10.95 off the bar menu last time, which worked out very well. I might be looking for someone to share with again, if you're interested (though the Monster Munch do sound good).

I will I like tapas?

It's Britishy multicultural tapas - beef meatballs in mushroom and red wine sauce, for example, coconut shrimp and mango dipping sauce, smoked salmon and crusty bread? (It's on the second page of the bar menu.) I can't remember your major dislikes beyond the evils of tomato and cheese...

The list would be too long! But those would be the major ones along with most veg.

Coconut shrimp and mango dipping sauce sounds very doable though. And possibly the meatballs, so okay then.

There's also some crayfish fritters on a similar vein to the shrimp - but, anyway, hurrah!

Yeah, I'd eat that, but I'd feel sorry for them!

Crayfish get your sympathy but not shrimp? Intriguing.

Probably because I've eaten plenty of shrimp.

Ah, point. I think I've only ever eaten crayfish in a Pret a Manger salad.

I don't think I ever have, but I doubt there's a lot of difference. I've only eaten lobster once, it was nice, but I can't bring myself to eat it again.

I really don't like fish much, but shellfish is usually more my sort of thing - this much I know. I think I like crab quite a lot, but I haven't had any in years, so who knows!
