[Mix] Things I Have Loved (I have longed to keep)

Jun 19, 2009 17:26

Behold, a Rule 63 Dan/Wanda mix, with bonus Charlie Dreiberg!  I love Wanda; she's my favorite 63 character and she seems to have developed her own "canon."  Here's my shot at her story.

This is dedicated to tonights, who asked for this mix.  If you like it, thank her.  ^_^

God Bless the Child - Billie Holiday (Wanda grows up in poverty and abuse)

Yes, the strong gets more
While the weak ones fade
Empty pockets don't ever make the grade
Mama may have, papa may have
But God bless the child that's got his own

Cornflake Girl - Tori Amos (Wanda deals with hardship and becomes Rorschach to take a stand)

She knows what's going on
Seems we got a cheaper feel now
All the sweeties are gone
Gone to the other side

She's Always a Woman - Billy Joel (Wanda partners with Dan and he eventually learns her secret)

She can lead you to love
She can take you or leave you
She can ask for the truth
But she'll never believe you
And she'll take what you give her as long as it's free
Yeah, she steals like a thief
But she's always a woman to me

Little Bird - The Weepies (Wanda falls in love with Dan)

I know what I know
A wind in the trees and a road
That goes winding under
From here I see rain, I hear thunder
Somewhere there's sun
And you don't need a reason

My Hands are Shaking - Sondre Lerche (It's not easy loving Wanda, but Dan couldn't be happier)

My hands are shaking from carrying this torch,
From carrying this torch for you
My lips are bleeding from kissing you goodbye,
From kissing you goodbye every night

The Child is Gone - Fiona Apple (Wanda carries Charlie to term and suffers from post-partum)

Honey, help me out of this mess
I'm a stranger to myself
But don't reach for me, I'm too far away
I don't wanna talk 'cuz there's nothing left to say

Lullaby (Goodnight, My Angel) - Billy Joel (Dan is devoted to his daughter)

Goodnight, my angel
Now it's time to dream
And dream how wonderful your life will be
Someday your child may cry
And if you sing this lullaby
Then in your heart
There will always be a part of me

Furnace Room Lullaby - Neko Case (Wanda fails to save Blair Roche and is driven mad)

I'm wrapped in the depths of these deeds that have made me
I can't bring a sound from my head 'though I try
I can't seem to find my way up from the basement
A demon holds my place on earth 'til I die

Ain't No Sunshine (When She's Gone) - Bill Withers (Dan longs for Wanda)

Wonder this time where she's gone
Wonder if she's gone to stay
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And this house just ain't no home
Any time she goes away

The Flowers - Regina Spektor (Wanda longs for her family in her isolation)

The flowers you gave me are rotting
And still I refuse to throw them away
Some of the bulbs never opened quite fully
They might so I'm waiting and staying awake
Things I have loved I have longed to keep
I'll never know if I go to sleep

Winter - Tori Amos (Charlie grows to teenhood with her mother on the periphery)

Years go by and I'm still here waiting
Withering where some snowman was
Mirror mirror, where's the crystal palace?
But I can only see myself
Skating around the truth who I am
But I know the ice is getting thin

A Better Son/Daughter - Rilo Kiley (Some mental problems are hereditary; Charlie has problems of her own)

And sometimes when you're on
You're really fucking on
And your friends they sing along and they love you
But the lows are so extreme
That the good seems fucking cheap
And it teases you for weeks in its' absence

The Way Things Are - Fiona Apple (Wanda comes to warn Dan about the mask killer; relations are strained)

I wouldn't know what to say to a gentle voice
It'd roll right past me
And if you chalk it up you'll see
I don't really have a choice
So don't even ask me

9 Crimes - Damien Rice (Frustrated Wanda wrestles with her love for Dan; frustrated Dan sleeps with Laurie and feels like a heel)

Leave me out with the waste, this is not what I do
It's the wrong kind of place to be cheating on you
It's the wrong time she's pulling me through
It's a small crime and I got no excuse

When It's Cold I'd Like to Die - Moby (Wanda and Dan fail to stop Adrian; overwhelmed, Wanda wants to give herself up in the name of "no compromise")

I don't want to swim the ocean
I don't want to fight the tide
I don't want to swim forever
When it's cold I'd like to die

Open Your Eyes - Snow Patrol (Dan begs Wanda to come home)

Get up, get out, get away from these liars
'Cause they don't get your soul or your fire
Take my hand, knot your fingers through mine
And we'll walk from this dark room for the last time

Blackbird - Evan Rachel Wood (Wanda realizes that she has something to live for, and she goes home)

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

The Beginning After the End - Stars (Self-explanatory)

Oh, the blood and the treasure and the losing it all
The time that we wasted and the place where we fall
Will we wake in the morning and know what is was for,
Up in our bedroom after the war?
