A Couple Of Things

A few things to report and ponder about. I'm not even trying.

"You remember that unknown disturbance I told you about a day ago?"

Saki looked over to the people that sat across her from the table where she sat behind, looking over the pile of papers that were now stacked on her desk. She paused for a long moment, which was enough to tell everyone else that the news that would follow was not exactly anything good.

"What about it?" Gyou asked with a small frown, he straightened up and tensed. Saki took one good look at him, knowing that he know meant business. There was no use trying to sugar coat anything and give them false comfort.

"Well, it's not looking to good."

"That's why it was called an unknown disturbance in the first place. What about that name would indicate anything good." Mika sighed and rolled her eyes, muttering something under her breath. Saki made a face at her for a moment before she slapped on a folder in front of the older woman.

"Apparently, traces of undead energy have been increasing at a fast rate over at the North and Northeast side of the Tenkai." The goddess sighed and shook her head, leaning back and crossing her arms.

"Where did they come from?" Toki looked up, raising an eyebrow as he took the folder from Mika, Rei was glancing from his shoulder - quietly looking over.

"That's the problem, nobody knows where they came from or how they got here." she paused. "Which is exactly why you guys are here. I want you to find out who's doing this."

"How fast are they spreading out?" Ran asked as he leaned backed.

"Well, let's just say the moment I began talking to you - they were over at the northeast side. Now the energy seems to be heading to the west side as we speak." Saki shook her head. "Don't expect it to be good."

"We just have to find out where this energy is coming from and then we can eliminate the source --" Rei was cut off as Saki raised a hand to quiet him down. "It's not going to be that easy, Rei-kun." she looked up at him. "You see, the disturbance started yesterday and since we didn't think it was such a big deal, we sent the generals that came after you guys in to fix the mess."

Toki scowled and shot a glance at Saki. "I certainly don't like where this is going..."

Saki shook her head and scowled right back. "Well, you're absolutely right." she stood up. "They haven't come back since last night and communication breaches have been cut short."

Saiyuki remained calm. "Who did you send?"

"Let's see. Like I said, we've got Okuni-chan, Rin-chan, Naoe-kun and Taro-kun. They were the ones that lead the first infiltration. I hadn't heard from them since yesterday afternoon. We don't even know if those things have gotten to them. We don't know what can happen if they ever get them. There isn't much time."

Gyou and Toki both stood up at the same time. "Then we have nothing else to talk about." Toki snapped quickly and turned away, walking to the door. "Get your asses moving, we've got a bunch of idiots to rescue."

Saki frowned and then tapped her foot expectantly. "Wait a second, Toki-kun." she looked at him suspiciously. "Are you sure that you can handle a mission like this, in the state you're in right now? You're not exactly the most stable idiot this planet has to offer -"

"Stop treating me like a kid." Toki glared at her, shooting her a glance from the corner of his eye. "I've been doing this kind of thing for years - I'm not about to screw up." He walked on as Gyou followed him. Ran was about to stand up and try his hand at stopping his younger brother when Saki shook her head and waved a hand.

"Ah, let him." She said in resignation. "He needs to get his mind off a lot of things. Maybe this will help."

Ran looked at her, frowning - the concern traceable. "And if he gets killed...?"

Saki paused for a while before she sighed and picked up the folders, walking to the file cabinet and pulling the drawer out. "Relax. He's too angry to get killed."

She pushed it back shut and made sure she locked it.

"I'll leave first, okay?"

Youji's lips curved into a painful smile as he fell to the ground. Shuuichi turned and gasped sharply, his eyes widening as he looked to see the older one swimming in a puddle of his own blood. He looked up and felt his feet move back, he raised his hand to make the whip lunge forward. His limbs were tired, though he never thought it would be possible.

He skidded back, and felt the cold, sharp steel plunge right through his lower back, he heard a cracking sound. From the way it sounded, things didn't look too good for him. He looked down at his stomach, he saw the end of the blade going right passed him - he fell as it was drawn out. Right beside Youji.

Both of them were now motionless.

Toki grasped a handful of dirt as his nails dug and scratched the ground. He pushed himself to get up, though there were too many stab wounds and too much bleeding over at his part. He winced and coughed roughly, breathing heavily. Pain racked through the entirety of his body as he managed to push himself up. He remained on his knees as he looked up, seeing a bright massive explosion heading his way, he threw his final talisman towards it.

Hiroaki leapt in front of him to protect him, but as the explosion drew nearer. Toki grabbed the younger boy and kept him in a firm embrace, making sure to shield him. There was no room to push him to safety. That explosion would destroy and hit everything in it's path. Including the four of them. He ignored Hiroaki's voice yelling for him to let go, struggling so he could go back in front of the monk and protect him again. But he paid no heed, he looked down at the younger boy and said in a loud voice.

"If you live through this, you know what to do! Don't screw up!"

The explosion was heard throughout.

--

He probably died.

She opened her eyes and jumped slightly as she looked ahead. She was still in the inner court and she'd fallen asleep on her throne. It was still bright, the sunlight made illuminating everything. She breathed lightly and then leaned back.

All a dream. It couldn't have been real.

But she started to wonder, she blinked and tilted her head as she looked ahead. Seeing four new lotuses on her pond all next to each other. Their colors far brighter than the ones around her.

More things later!
