So...Lady Gaga....

Dec 26, 2009 00:16

So I got Lady Gaga's second album The Fame Monster  and it's quite enjoyable if I do say myself, so I will admit I gave in and grew to enjoy her music.

So I know a lot of people hate her and think she is a shallow songstress who is looking for attention by dressing the way she does and cause she is in the public eye a lot, but thats not her fault if people enjoy her music and her record label (her second one actually) knows how to promote her and get her out there.

*~~~~~*

I wanna talk about the way she dresses for a minute. I know Kaija, Jake and Keith will know this but we have bands we listen to who dress out there sometime. Chibi dances in school girl uniforms, has a bunch of piercings and does the industrial hair sometimes. Combichrist were humping unicorns during their performance. They like to put on a good performance for their audience and so does she otherwise she wouldn't go to the lengths she would if she was really a stuck up princess of a singer.

No pop princess ever bled on stag as far as I know. Just cause she's commercialized doesn't mean she has to wear belly shirts. She did use to be in the club scene and performed in them before so it's not like "lets make a singer and make her famous" she actually earned it.

*~~~~~*

Is she the most talented songstress that ever lived? No but does that mean one can't enjoy her music for the lyrics and beats. See for me, I can relate to her lyrics because...well reasons...I'll leave it at that. And not every song on my zune has to have some deep meaning, nothing wrong with music you just want to move to or you find enjoyable.

*~~~~~*

So now time for her lyrics. It's true most of her songs are about love and lust but they are all different and simple in the end once you think about it, so she does make you think so that must account for something. Examples:

Paparazzi: A relationship where one is so infatuated with someone to the point where they are almost obsessed with them. It's also about the problem a celebrity when they get famous and have the obsessed fans that do crazy things.

Pokerface: Loving someone but you have to keep it a secret for whatever reason and you want to just pour out how you feel about them but just can't.

Lovegame: Pure lust, not going to deny that it's about being in lust with someone.

Monster: When someone has you so under their spell that you just can't tear yourself away from them even if they aren't perfect for you and are deceiving you.

Bad Romance: The one we've all been in, loving a friend of yours but you can never be anymore than friends because you know it could ruin that relationship and thus creating "a bad romance"

I'm sure anyone can relate to at least one of those songs if not her others that I did not mention.

Also In Bad Romance she sings "Rah Rah ah ah ahh Roma roma gaga oh la la" Someone I know complained that she is making up words. Well what the hell does "MMMbop" mean from that Hanson song so many loved back in the 90s. It's a made up word and she's not the first person who ever made up words for their songs.

SO whats the purpose of me writing this little blurb about Lady Gaga? Just this: She is not a talentless singer.

She writes all her own lyrics and is very involved in her music process and if she likes electronica and dancy music, so what,it's her style. Song people like banging metal together to make Industrial music or just playing a guitar. It's their style and shouldn't be criticized for it.

So many hate her just because she became famous, even though it took two years for her to actually get that famous after performing with just a piano in nightclubs. I've heard only one person validate why they don't like her music (Jake) and that's fine. One person I know just flat out hates her because of her fame and admitted he would not listen or stop listening to someone if they became that famous with people.  (how dumb)

I'll admit I did not want to like her but I was just being stuck up and denying that I did like this up beat music even if some of it is just mindless dance music but it's perfect for me when I'm working on a project or something cause I can just enjoy the beat. I gave her a second chance and I enjoy her music quite a bit, especially this second album.

Now I'm not worshiping her now or anything, I'm just tired of someone getting so ridiculed without even giving them a chance cause they are famous or her music style isn't their liking. I've tried music that was outside of my realm of what I liked and ended up loving it up (Thanks to Jake and KK) so you just need to give it a try and not be quick to judge otherwise you're no better than those "outsiders" who are against the government or mainstream cause it's cool or the politicians themselves who don't even bother listening to the other side of the spectrum.

Even if the "scene" you're involved with doesn't like something doesn't mean you can't be yourself and be unique in the sense that you can like what you like and not be a sheep to the "rules" given to you when you buy the pants or that shirt with a logo on it. Just do what you want and I think she actually accomplished that. Her outfits have gotten her a lot of ridicule and put on the bad dressed list, but does she care? No and that alone could have sank her from the beginning cause right now it's all about fitting in and not standing out but she did it anyway.

Bottom line: Music is Music and in our own opinions, some is good and some is bad, but you gotta at least give something a listen and then make the informed decision of whether you like it or not. What we like is what we like and we can't change that cause then you're only hurting yourself.

Denying who you are and if you do that, you might as well just go and get that wool sweater and get in the crowd with the rest of the sheep.
