This past Saturday was a fun one indeed.
Oz and I, along with my parents and cousin Dan, piled into the van and headed out to Waterloo to see my brother perform in his school production of 'Urinetown'. My brother had one of the lead roles in the parody musical and did an amazing job. I wasn't sure how he would be, seeing as he's never acted before, but he pretty much blew me away. His character had plenty of slapstick comedic lines and over-the-top gestures, which allowed my brother to ham things up a bit and have fun with the role. His singing was great too and I could tell that he was equal parts nervous and excited.
We all went out for dinner afterwards and enjoyed some super fun conversation. I don't know how to explain it, but it was one of the first times I have seen my brother genuinely happy and grateful that his family came out to see him perform. I mean, he's always been thankful on the surface, but this time he really seemed truly pleased that we were there to cheer him on. It was something in the way he hugged me to say goodbye that made me really feel his love and appreciation. I was beaming the whole way home.
After a two hour car ride through the snow and rain, Oz and I hopped on the subway at Kennedy to head downtown. We ran into Ian and Tina (and friends) on their way to the Dance Cave to party it up for Tina's birthday. We chatted with them for a bit and laughed about all the strange people that seemed to be congregating on our subway car. Upon arrival at Oz's place, it was either PJ's or Dance Cave, so we made a quick decision and headed on out to Lee's. We drank a bunch and danced even more. Oz and I shared lots of laughs and bop-sho-bop's and close close dancing - he is my most favourite dancing partner.
Oh, and for all of you who are familiar with Asian Patrick Swayze ... I danced with him. Like full on, hands around my waist, spinning me around, hands in the air dancing! HeHe. Oz was fascinated with him (having never experienced the dancing legend before) and after several drinks dared me to approach him. So I did and it was super fun :)
Two pitas, a cab ride home, and then we passed out.
I wish all Saturday's were full of this much love and laughter.
