Run mad as often as you chuse, but do not faint!

A gorgeous day, and for the first time in weeks, I felt alive. So I went down to the undergrad and "studied" and walked around their paltry version of the Lawn. (I miss the University most especially on days like this, when I would have liked to sit out in the Amphitheatre or the Lawn or Garden X.)

I stopped by the NYPL and picked up a copy of Darcy's Story, a "companion novel" to my favoritest. Bwaha. It looks terrible. First line: "It is a consequence of possessing an income of ten thousand pounds a year that a man may order his life to his own liking, and choose his own society." Wow. Janet Aylmer (note the initials, please) was apparently so intent on copying that famous first line that she completely missed its spirit. Also, the cover (see right) features a crotch shot of a headless Regency gent, so I have high hopes for this being utter stupidity, in similar vein to Scarlett, the so-bad-it-was-good sequel to Gone with the Wind (Summary, as best I can recall: Scarlett is heartbroken! Goes to Charleston! Hurricane! Scarlett and Rhett on lifeboat! Sex on the beach! Scarlett is pregnant! Goes to Ireland! Delivers not-quite-out-of-wedlock child, named Cat! Fire! Rhett strides through the smoke! Saves them all! Instead of putting out the fire, Scarlett and Rhett have more sex!)

[EDIT: On page 4, Darcy has an Emo! moment over the death of his parents, some five or ten years previous. Bwahahaha Darcy the Sensitive Soul, I love it.]
