“HIV REACTIVE”
We stared at the screen, hoping that somewhere somehow I’d read it wrong and life would go on, but there it was and Mo confirmed it with a sigh and a head on the machine.
“So…what now?” I asked.
“We repeat the test with another sample, and if it’s still reactive, we tell Boss, and he’ll tell the doctor, and we’ll have to stamp BIOHAZARD on the results…you’ll need to write down the steps; it’s long,” Mo explained.
I felt a grin creep up. “This is exciting, we’re watching the birth of a statistic!”
“Go and get your notebook.”
