IN THE BEGINNING
Kris was elated to find himself in Adam’s bed when he opened his eyes. He couldn’t remember how he’d gotten there and he didn’t really care. Except that, being Kris, he was curious as to just how he wound up in his best friend’s bed. But, for the time being, he was content to snuggle deeper under the covers and just enjoy the warmth and comfort this bed brought him. He closed his eyes and sighed quietly. Just then he felt the mattress dip behind him under the weight of who he hoped to be Adam.
There was the rustling of sheets and the slide of naked skin between those sheets. A warm body curled around Kris, a strong arm slipping around his waist. Then warm, soft lips pressed against his shoulder. “Kris.” The sound of Adam’s voice sent shivers up Kris’ spine.
“Adam,” he murmured, his fingers tracing over the ones around his waist.
“What are you doing in my bed?” Adam asked quietly, his lips still pressed to Kris’ shoulder freckles.
Kris snorted. “I have no idea.”
Adam giggled. “You’re such a dork.”
“Can’t help it,” Kris muttered.
“Yeah, and why not?”
“Because when you’re this close, and naked, I go a little loopy.”
There was a beat of silence and Kris’ heart clenched. Maybe he’d said the wrong thing. But then Adam spoke, huskily, in his ear. “Oh really?”
Kris nodded. “You do things to me,” he said.
“What kind of things?” Adam asked softly.
“Do I really need to answer that?” Kris questioned, screwing his face up at the question. He didn’t really want to explain to Adam in detail the things he made him feel. The way he had no control over his emotions when he was around him.
“I guess not,” Adam answered, his words quiet. Something in the tone of Adam’s voice made Kris’ stomach clench painfully. So he turned around and pressed the length of his small body to Adam’s longer one.
“Do you really want to know?” he breathed.
Adam chuckled quietly. “I wouldn’t have asked if I didn’t want to know,” he said. Kris gave a short nod and pressed even closer. He stroked the back of his fingers down the side of Adam’s face, then closed his eyes and pressed his lips to Adam’s. In response, Adam enveloped Kris with his arms, pulling him tightly to his chest, kissing back softly.
When the two pulled apart, they sighed and pressed their foreheads together, brown looking in to blue. They were silent for a moment. But then Kris chose to speak. “Does that explain it for you?”
Adam grinned. “A little.”
