Theater...and stuff.

Things I have learned today:

There is a sequel to "Phantom of the Opera", called "Love Never Dies". I'm thinking it's a cross between a James Bond movie and a would-be Twilight novel. Sort of like it Stephanie Meyer wrote...I don't know, about 19th century vampires. Who weren't really vampires. But are. Or something. Either way, it's set in 1920s Coney Island, and doesn't have memorable songs.

The second is that Yazmina Reza has a new play out. She's the one who wrote "ART" for those of you aren't intimately familiar with her work. Reza writes superb 'people' dramas, like the nicer version of David Mamet. The reviews for the play, "God of Carnage" are excellent. I want it. Or I'll settle for the script.

Thirdly, apparently Stanley Tucci and Tony Shalhoub are both in the revival of "Lend me a Tenor" by Ken Ludwig. I liked "Tenor" a whole lot--at least the script, anyway. But apparently the reviewer wasn't thrilled by it's...hm. I don't want to say "Tenor" is simplistic, but it's not as mean as other plays.

I should read theater reviews more often.
Thanks Wall Street Journal, for April 9th.

Also, if anyone would like to join me in stopping "Love Never Dies" from being produced ever again, just let me know.
