Summary: It's 1947. Two years after the war ended, and Atsushi and Asagi live a comfortable life together in the countryside. Everything changes when Asagi ventures into the city to drink and finds a dying man named Ruiza who begs him to make him a vampire.
Author's Comment: I was worried this chapter would take me a while to write. It flowed pretty well actually. I wrote some new scenes but used some from the original. I made the section from Ruiza's perspective rougher to show what the state of his mind is like.
You’re not alone, are you?
Asagi jumped as Atsushi’s voice brushed his thoughts. He wasn’t too far from their home… the wind must have carried his and Ruiza’s scents to Atsushi. I’m not. I brought someone from the city. It’s.. he sighed, slowing to a halt as he glanced down at Ruiza. He was still limp in Asagi’s arms, head pillowed against his shoulder. He wouldn’t awaken until the change was complete. It’s complicated.
I’m waiting outside the house. We have all the time in the world for you to explain yourself.
Asagi winced at the edge to his lover’s thoughts. Atsushi was clearly displeased. The younger vampire hoped his lover would understand his choices once Asagi was able to explain himself. And accept his decision to change Ruiza. Asagi adjusted his grip on the other man then sped up. Better to return sooner so he could speak with Atsushi.
As promised, his lover was waiting outside their house. He’d taken a seat on the porch, leaning back on his hands and watching the trees. He rose to his feet as Asagi neared the house.
The younger vampire slowed to a halt in front of his lover. Normally he could read Atsushi’s face so well, but little emotion was displayed on his beautiful face. Atsushi’s eyes flicked to Ruiza then back to Asagi.
“Before you say anything,” Asagi said softly. “Let me put Ruiza to bed.”
Atsushi inclined his head. “All right.” He moved aside so Asagi could enter their house. His eyes followed the younger vampire, but he didn’t speak or accompany him into the house. Asagi felt his shoulders tensing. He knew this would not be an enjoyable conversation. He needed to focus on Ruiza right now though. He carried the unconscious man to the futon in the corner of the room. He laid Ruiza down then removed his shoes and the bloodstained yukata. Asagi cleaned the blood off his chest with a damp cloth. The ruined flesh had knitted together without leaving a scar behind. Gently, Asagi dressed Ruiza in clean clothes before draping a blanket over him. He would be fine until he awoke. He hesitated then stroked Ruiza’s hair, fingers brushing his cheek. They would soon become intimately acquainted. Very intimately acquainted. Asagi needed to become accustomed to touching him. Ruiza was an extremely good-looking man, although Asagi wished he weren’t so thin. He and Ruiza were united in that though. And being victims.
“Sleep well,” Asagi whispered. He kissed Ruiza’s forehead then stood. It was time to face Atsushi. He walked outside, closing the door behind him. He turned to his lover, reaching out to grasp his hand. “I know I have broken the promises I made to you. But let me explain.” He drew Atsushi closer, sliding his arms around him and concentrating on his memories. He showed Atsushi his memories of Ruiza’s last days as a human. How Ruiza had caught him feeding in the alley, and then the next night when Asagi recognized Ruiza’s scent and the smell of blood. How Ruiza had begged him to make him into a vampire. “He reminded me so much of myself,” Asagi said, clutching Atsushi tighter. “The two of us were trapped in dying bodies. I told him that he didn’t know the depth of what he asked for. He insisted… he said that he’d never had a chance to live before because he’d been poor all his life. He was like me, Atsu. Only he was impoverished while I was always ill.”
Atsushi sighed then stroked Asagi’s long hair. “You are too kind, love. I believe you were wrong to turn Ruiza. He knows nothing of this life, and he is a stranger to you. But I understand your reasons for turning him. We can only hope that he adjusts to his new life.” He pulled back then pushed Asagi out to arms length, fixing him with a look. “Because you have bitten Ruiza, he will be your charge. Are you fully capable of caring for Ruiza and tending to all his needs?”
Asagi nodded. “I am.”
“I’ll help you with gathering blood for him. But as I said, he is your responsibility.”
“I’ll take care of him.” Asagi leaned in to kiss his lover. Atsushi drew him close again to return the kiss. He was relieved that Atsushi, though not thrilled with his decision, had at least accepted it.
*
Asagi sat down beside Ruiza. He slept so deeply and lay so still that a human would presume him dead. In a way, he was. A vampire had to die to be reborn. After that fatal bite, their hearts were stopped forever. Asagi smiled sadly as he laid his hand over his still heart, placing his free hand on Ruiza’s. Would he miss his heartbeat? Sometimes, Asagi did. Other times he was grateful since Atsushi would’ve just given him a knowing smirk. He remembered his heart racing in the first days of their relationship. Atsushi touching him, whenever they slept together… He shook his head then listened to the sound of Ruiza’s faint breathing. It wasn’t necessary for them to breathe, although it was difficult for them to break the habit. It was an action they were so accustomed to.
Ruiza’s hand on the blanket twitched slightly. Asagi stroked his hair to help him relax. Watching Ruiza go through the change was… fascinating in a strange way. His skin was paler and cooler to the touch now. Had it been the same for Asagi at this time of his new life? It was difficult to remember his time as a new vampire. It was a blur of drinking blood, sleeping, and his ever-present desire for Atsushi. He blushed as he recalled his neediness, knowing it would be the same for Ruiza.
So desperate for sex you would tear my clothes off, Atsushi teased as he approached.
“Atsu,” Asagi hissed. “Why must you always mention that?” Atsushi loved bringing it up just to embarrass him. The man could be so insensitive sometimes.
“You know why.” Atsushi sat beside Asagi. “The sun has already set,” he said as he glanced at Ruiza. “He should wake up soon. When he does, the first thing he want will be blood.”
Asagi blinked. “I’m aware of this.” In preparation for Ruiza’s awakening, the two had gathered blood in jars. Keeping their new companion fed for the next couple days wouldn’t be an issue.
“He’ll want you next.” Atsushi smirked. “He was already dying when you turned him so he might be as desperate for sex as you were.”
“Please don’t tell him of my desperation,” Asagi muttered. He glanced at Ruiza again, squeezing his hand.
The older vampire chuckled softly. “I’m sure he’ll be curious. Once he’s capable of thinking straight.” He smirked again as he looked at Asagi. “I remember how difficult it was to keep you in clothes.”
Asagi felt himself flushing again. He resisted the urge to throw something at his lover. It would only amuse Atsushi and give him more excuses to tease Asagi. “Are we done discussing the past? I’m not a new vampire anymore. Ruiza is.”
“I know.” Atsushi ruffled Asagi’s hair, knowing how much the younger vampire hated that. “He’ll be keeping you very busy for the next few weeks.” He looked Asagi over then glanced at Ruiza. “…I wonder if you will be able to handle satisfying all of his needs. You’re not the most dominant man.”
Asagi buried his face in his hands. “Stop that,” he hissed. It was true that he preferred to feel Atsushi inside him. Now was not the time to tease him about his bedroom preferences though. “I told you I would take care of Ruiza and I will do it. Now go paint something or go for a walk.”
Atsushi chuckled softly. “All right. Ah, one more thing. I know you’re quite fond of this shirt. If you don’t want it to be in shreds, I suggest you change into something else. Or you could wait naked,” he mused. “I’m sure Ruiza would appreciate that.”
“So would you,” Asagi muttered. Atsushi was right about his shirt though. He would change. He left his lover and went to the wardrobe. He opened it, taking out a simple yukata. He removed his Western clothes and donned the yukata. He had just started to tie his obi when Atsushi called for him.
“Asagi, Ruiza is waking up.”
Asagi dropped the obi. “He is?” He was immediately by Atsushi’s side, holding his yukata to keep it closed.
Atsushi kissed Asagi on the cheek. “I’ll leave you to your new lover.” He left the two in the bedroom. Although I would enjoy watching you.
Stop being so lecherous! Asagi scolded.
Ruiza soon reclaimed his attention. His eyes slowly fluttered open as he shifted on the futon. Instead of brown, his eyes were blood red-the color of every thirsty or new vampire’s eyes. Crimson eyes focused on Asagi with a sleepy yet concentrated look. Suddenly he gasped, white fangs emerging as his lips parted.
* * *
Ruiza felt like his body was weighted to the ground. His arms didn’t want to move and his legs seemed as if they were made of lead. He could move his fingers a little and-Ruiza panicked when he realized his heart wasn’t beating. Was he dead? Dying? Suddenly, memories washed over him. Meeting Asagi the beautiful vampire, the robber, the blade slipping between his ribs, collapsing in that filthy alley as his lifeblood slipped away… then Asagi came into the alley. Came for him. Pressed his fangs to Ruiza’s neck and gave him a future.
So he was a vampire now.
Ruiza’s eyes fluttered open. He lay on a futon in someone’s bedroom. He was distracted when a thoughtful-looking Asagi leaned over him. He looked even more stunning now that he only wore a simple yukata. His long hair was pulled over one shoulder, one hand clasping the front of his yukata. It would take so little effort to remove. To expose that beautiful skin.
He gasped when fangs protruded from his mouth, distracting him from his study of Asagi. A raging thirst like he’d never felt before paralyzed him. Overwhelmed him. Ruiza wanted to speak, but his throat was too parched. He could only stare at Asagi as his lips parted in silent torment. He needed... water? No. Blood. He felt his mouth watering as he remembered drinking Asagi’s blood.
“Are you thirsty?”
Ruiza nodded frantically. Yes, he needed blood! He jumped as Asagi seemed to disappear before his eyes. He returned in the same rapid manner with a jar of what smelled like blood. Ruiza licked his lips, thirst deepening as he stared at the jar.
Asagi pushed the jar into his hands. “Drink it a-“ he trailed off as Ruiza practically inhaled the sweet liquid. The blood filling his mouth tasted better than anything he’d ever ate or drank as a human. It tasted of life and death as it prolonged his own. Once he’d drained the jar, Ruiza slowly licked his fangs clean. He had to familiarize himself with the additions to his body. They felt strange. Everything felt strange. He could see the world in such vivid detail now. The shine in Asagi’s hair, the simple pattern on his grey yukata, the pale skin of his neck and chest. Ruiza was vaguely aware of dropping the jar. The next thing he knew, he was straddling Asagi and tugging his yukata off his shoulders. He wanted this beautiful man. No, he needed him. A startled look crossed Asagi’s face and then he embraced Ruiza, pressing him closer and kissing him. Ruiza knotted his fingers in Asagi’s hair and kissing him harder.
The older vampire maneuvered them so Ruiza was lying beneath him. Asagi opened Ruiza’s yukata then hesitated. “Have you done this before…?”
“Doesn’t matter,” Ruiza hissed. He licked his fangs then tore the yukata off Asagi’s shoulders, rolling them over so he was once again straddling Asagi. Need for the beautiful man beneath him burned throughout his body. Ruiza shoved Asagi’s yukata out of the way, making a pleased noise at the sight of the bare skin that greeted him. So beautiful. Clothing was ripped in his eagerness to get both of them naked. Asagi started to suck on his fingers, but Ruiza didn’t care. He wanted Asagi inside him. Now. He stroked the older vampire’s cock, rolling his hips down on him and growling with need. “Want you,” he groaned. He continued to stroke Asagi and grind himself against the older vampire until the other was erect. Licking his fangs again, Ruiza raised his hips to position Asagi’s erection at his entrance. Asagi slowly reached up to grasp Ruiza’s hips. He looked uncertain but that changed to pleasure as Ruiza impaled himself on Asagi’s erection. It hurt… fuck, it hurt. Ruiza could feel his insides tearing, blood softening the harsh intrusion. Ruiza didn’t care. Asagi was inside him and satisfying that burning need. Closing his eyes, Ruiza leaned down to grasp Asagi’s shoulders as he fell into a rapid rhythm. Asagi worked to match his pace, pushing his hips up and angling them experimentally. Ruiza swore he saw stars as something heavenly was brushed inside him. “Harder,” Ruiza growled. “More… again…”
Asagi obeyed. He continued to thrust into that spot, sliding his hand between their bodies to stroke Ruiza’s erection. The younger vampire groaned loudly at the pleasure radiating through his body. Yes… just like that. This and blood was all he needed now.
* * *
They continued to have sex until Ruiza was too tired to handle more. He panted as he slumped down on Asagi’s chest, body limp from his fifth orgasm. Ruiza shifted to roll off of him. His eyes were asleep before he hit the pillows. Asagi yawned as he turned on his side. He could read the weariness in his new lover’s body. A weariness that matched his own. Asagi wasn’t used to feeling tired but Ruiza’s relentless stamina had drained him. Asagi did enjoy sex (how could he not with Atsushi as his lover?) but considered multiple orgasms in one night to just be carnal relations. There was no love or passion in that sort of sex. He much preferred to have Atsushi make love to him. Holding each other, thoughts blurring together as they shared love and passion.
Asagi bit his lip as he glanced at Ruiza again. This… mindless creature of desperate need had been him once. Had it hurt Atsushi to see Asagi in that state? To know that he was just a source of pleasure and not the man who saved Asagi’s life? Sighing softly, Asagi slowly got up. He wet a cloth then returned to Ruiza. He cleaned their bodies, pulling the blankets up over Ruiza’s shoulders. Asagi pulled his yukata back on and sat back to study his new lover. Would Ruiza be this needy for the rest of his time as a new vampire? Every time Ruiza climaxed, Asagi thought the other vampire would be content. He’d quickly realized how wrong he was, learning that one orgasm wouldn’t satisfy Ruiza’s need. He continued to demand more until he’d exhausted himself.
He glanced up as the door opened. Atsushi walked inside, smirking as he looked Asagi over. “You smell like a brothel.” He chuckled then walked over to him. “Did you satisfy our guest?”
“…Only because he was too exhausted to continue.” Asagi huffed then slid his arms around Atsushi’s waist, leaning his head against his stomach. He buried his face in his lover’s shirt, voice small. “Was I… like that too?”
Gently, Atsushi stroked his hair. “You were.”
“Did it hurt to see me like that?”
Atsushi sighed. “Sometimes it did.” He sat down next to Asagi. He wrapped his arms around the younger vampire and pulled him into his lap. “But it hurt far more to listen to you coughing and watching you spit up blood.” He stroked Asagi’s hair again then kissed his forehead. “I knew your thoughts would clear though. And they did, bringing my sweet lover back to me. Remember how you hid beneath the blankets and wouldn’t look at me because you were so embarrassed?”
Asagi chuckled as he remembered. “I do.”
“I imagine Ruiza will feel the same once he is himself again.”
Yawning, Asagi made himself comfortable in his lover’s lap. “I guess he will.” He pillowed his head against Atsushi’s shoulder. He felt his eyes slip shut as Atsushi resumed stroking his hair, luring him into slumber with his comfortable presence.
Notes
1) I still have more ideas for Asagi's memories. I might end up writing them later but for now, I'm going to skip to Tsunehito's time. Asagi's memories are, for now, incomplete--although I've posted the main events. The other ideas I have in mind are more side-stories that enhance Asagi's storyline but aren't necessary to understand his character.
2) I'll be taking a short break from vampires. Because I wrote Asagi's past, I decided I should write some of Tsunehito's past before he meets Asagi. I've also gotten heavy into the Marvel Universe fandom (as those on my tumblr have seen). The Thorki skating AU got me interested in skating so with that and the Olympics going on, I've got a skating AU on my brain. Tsunehito has a figure skating background so I'll be writing the time in his life when he's 15 to 17 and best friends with Hide-Zou. I'm not sure how long this part will be since I only began to outline on Friday.
3) I don't think I'll post the skating series until it's complete so I can avoid putting pressure on myself to continue posting.
