IC; repairs

[There's a novelist sitting outside, leaning on a cabin wall out of the sun and smoking. The roof of the cabin is caved in, as if something landed on it... or it landed on itself, upside down. There are some building materials in a pile off to the side.

He appears to be waiting for something.]

[And that 'something' shows up pretty quick.]

Hey!

Hey.

I think I got enough. By measurements, anyway. I don't know how to do this shit.

If there's not enough, then we can get more. But it'll be a little more difficult that normal this time.

Yeah, not many trees.

That's why you take it from other cabins nobody is using.

There are barns all over, too. But I wanted better wood, I bet I could kick those walls in. What do we do?

Well first we have to make sure the framing is stable. If it was damaged, then the roof will fall in as soon as you put it on.

Okay.

...what does that mean. I'm a writer.

If a book has a few pages ripped out, you can put them back in easily. But if a book has a damaged spine, you have to replace the spine before you can put the pages back in.

[METAPHORS, I HAS THEM.]

I meant explain it because I'm a writer and not a construction worker, moron. Not "turn it into a dumb metaphor about books."

Oh.

[He crouches down, and draws the outline of a house and the framing. Then he points at the framing.]

We just have to check and make sure these parts here are straight up and down and aren't cracked or anything. Luckily it should be easy to see, since the roof isn't on there right now.

Okay. Want me to start tearing what's left of the roof off?

Reply

trump_apple June 22 2010, 23:31:26 UTC
Yeah, let's do that first. There's not much left, so it shouldn't take long. Oh, but don't lean on the walls while doing it, they might fall over.

If I don't lean on the walls how the fuck am I going to get on the roof?

trump_apple June 22 2010, 23:47:50 UTC
...Oh yeah, that's a problem.

[Normally he would use his powers to do this part but lol :B]

Well, how much of the roof is collapsed?

Just the real top. I think there are enough beams to stand on.

We'll find out.
