So, this is my last beach day. There was some wonderful water today (made better by a cute red-headed surfer and his slightly less good looking blonde friend... ^_~;) and so I swam a lot and sat on the beach with a good book as well, resulting in me getting a sunburn, the first and last of the week. It's my normal spazzy sunburn too, all eraticly placed and prone to welts... ergh.
On a positive note, I went and got a new swimsuit + sunglasses yesterday so I used both suits, enabling me to avoid the awkward feat of getting back into an already wet bathing suit. Also, having sunglasses makes the beach a lot more tolerable for reading.
Speaking of which, I borrowed a really good book from Alice called All The Fishes Come Home To Roost. I've been trying to be diligent about only reading Guns Of The South, but I just keep slipping and starting other books! Guns Of The South is really cool and all, but I like to read lots of books at once so I keep being sidetracked. I suppose it doesn't help that I don't know where my copy is... the last time I saw it was when it waqs recovering from one of it's brushes with the surf (I say brushes because I like to put my chair right up close to the water so that my feet can sit in the waves when they come up the shore after breaking and a couple times this week I've been paying more attention to the book than to the tide and consiquently got me and it very wet as a wave came down on me)
Anyway, All The Fishes Come Home To Roost really reminds me of both Persepolis and A Year In Search Of Wa (All of them are autobiographies of people in different cultures) and I deffinately, deffinately am enjoying it and would recomend it to anyone looking for a really funny, interesting, and enjoyable read. The main character reminds me of me in a lot of ways, which I guess is part of why I like it... It's about a girl who's hippie parents move to India in her early childhoop to live in a comune dedicated to the folowing of a guru named Baba (who you may have heard of in songs from The Who). It's had in laughing really loudly all day at some of the the hysterical things that happen as well as the author's sense of humor.
So, driving home tomorrow, maybe (hopefuly!) seeing Tess and Ryann Sunday/Monday, and franticly getting ready for MICA for the rest of the week. Fun times!
