(Antiquated) N. A synthetic material once put out by the D'Bakle Company -- similar in design to Silly Putty, but with more bounce and the occasional tendency to digest flesh if left too long on exposed skin. Flobby was marketed for two months in 1937 until the unfortunate disappearance of year-old Robert Franklin, after which the damaging New York Times headline, "Flobby Ate Bobby!" forced D'Bakle not only to withdraw their product from stores and pay the Franklins for damages, but also to file for bankruptcy. The secret to making Flobby was soon after sold to the United States Military, where it became integral to the development of napalm.
