Intro post
Greetings everybody! My name is Cat and I just joined this community... thought I would make an introduction post and say hi to everyone here.
Name: Cat
Age: 21
Writing Experience: I have been writing fiction for as long as I can remember, and attempting to write seriously for at least 6 years. I even pursued an English degree with a specialty in Creative Writing while studying at NYU. After three semesters there, I withdrew after realizing that I would rather keep writing as a hobby than make it into a career. But in my time there I took many writing, language, and literature classes.
Preferred Genres: I'm kinda all over the place, but I generally stick to longer sci-fi and fantasy stories, that I guess can be categorized as novellas. I love creating characters and my stuff tends to be very character-driven.
Education: As mentioned, I spent 3 semesters at New York University studying as a Creative Writing major. I withdrew and now am studying Design & Technology at Parsons School of Design in New York City. I'll be graduating from here in May of 2008.
Country: USA, and a proud New Yorker at that.
What do you hope to get from this community? I recently realized just how far I've come in the last few years, and how dramatically my writing has improved just over the course of writing my last story. I think that part of my improvement has to do with talking more about both my writing and the writing of my friends and peers. I hope that taking part in this community will help me continue this trend of improvement. I would like to improve enough to be able to write something publishable in the next 5-10 years, and I think that involving myself in an online writing community such as this one will help me to achieve this goal.
