Mod Post: Revamping WnR
Hey, guys! Thanks for all of your suggestions in this post and the immense patience for waiting for us.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the great suggestions. It was much appreciated. xD We looked at your suggestions, combined it with our own thoughts and we managed to narrow down some possibilities about what to do with write_and_run.
1) Contest Frequency
We understand that everyone has their own busy schedules or sometimes you just don't feel like writing all that much, especially when you're on a rigid schedule. After much thought, we've decided that, instead of a tri-weekly contest, we'll be holding the contest once a season. Yes, that means when about the time the seasons change is when the deadline will be. Kind of romantic, right?
2) Prompts
How many prompts would you like? Upon the suggestion of lunadeartemis, we were thinking of doing 3-5 prompts per contest, just so we could open up the possibilities and let those creative juices flow. But, how many prompts would you guys like to see in each contest?
What kind of genres would you like to see these prompts sort of insinuating? Romance? Adventure? Horror? Tragedy? How often do you want to see these genres in the prompts? We'll try our best to have a variety of different prompts with genres that you like. We already have some possible genres in mind, but it'd be awesome to hear your input.
We hear you! and all three of us agree most of the prompts were pretty lame. We were discussing ways to "unlame-ify" our prompts, but that didn't work out that well, haha. We've decided that we'll likely open up the prompts a lot more so that all you have to do is follow the prompt and that's it. Though, does anyone have any ideas on how to make the actual prompts better?
3) Multi-chapter Fics
Have you ever read an ongoing fic that you really loved that you would, for sure, vote for in a contest? Well, now write_and_run may be opening up to the possibility. Do you guys think it would be a good idea to open up the contest to multi-chap fics? We don't think it's realistic to expect that multi-fic stories will get done in three months, especially if they're not short ones. However, we still think it would be fine and okay to enter a incomplete multi-chap fic, say, if it had at least five chapters or something along the lines of that so people could gauge whether or not they liked the story and if it was prompt-appropriate. Bad idea or good idea? Any ideas to improve it?
4) Winners' Pick!
We got a suggestion and we think that it's a good one. We'll likely keep the current prizes we have now and introduce a new one. Do you guys think that would be a nice addition to write_and_run or no?
