[Olivier tends to notice things more than most. It doesn't escape her notice that businesses seem to be closing for to day, and that flags seem to be everywhere... even that there's barbecues and family outings going on among the drone population

...Major General?

She sees him enter, and the alcohol and glass are whisked under the table quickly. She stands, moving to put them over on the counter so she can stand in front of them.]
No school?

[Which. Ed had no idea about, but the glasses and scent of alcohol in the air can't be completely masked. He won't comment though, simply going to the fridge for a drink.]
....Dammit. Why only milk....?

I could make lemonade if you're desperate.

I can manage fine. Water will do.

[Screw it. She tops off her glass and reaches into the freezer for an ice cube to toss in.]

[Notices the glass, but doesn't say anything, getting himself a glass of water from the tap and adding ice for himself. Because there is no way he is drinking milk and he is still a minor and thus no alcohol.]

[Even if he cared, she wouldn't. She nods toward the table.]
Sit down.

What's up?

He looks down to the drink for about a minute before finally picking it up and taking a sip, luckily barely tasting the alcohol.]
You're gonna tell me something that bad?
Reply
No. It's just what he would have wanted people to do. No one here but you, your brother, and Miss Rockbell even knew him.
[It doesn't occur to her that she hasn't said who, or what the hell she's even talking about. The past week or so is a blur in Olivier's mind, and she's had about half a bottle of whatever she's drinking on an empty stomach.]

Who....? Someone we met at Briggs? Buccaneer? Miles? What...what are you talking about?
[Dammit. Had someone else died and he wasn't aware of it, here or back home? Why did he always miss these things? Why did nobody tell him?]
Reply
Captain Buccaneer was killed in battle with King Bradley shortly before I came here.
Reply
....I didn't know. I'm sorry, Major General.
Reply
I'm not upset about it. He was doing his job, and he died smiling. What more could I want for one of my men?
