-Surgical head, Doctor Zander Rice, lost his father at a young age-he was murdered in the process of collecting Wolverine's DNA by the mutant himself, and as a result, Rice dealt with his grief by abusing Laura and referring to her as nothing but an “animal.”

-The whole reason behind her creation was business; Laura was raised to be a weapon without a sense of self, and sent out on assassination missions for clients all over the world. Her first mission involved slaughtering a Presidental candidate and his family, including two young sons.

-Rice, eager to put her through more rigorous experiments, prematurely brought on her mutation. As soon as her claws and healing factor emerged, Rice removed her claws, sharpened them, and then coated them with adamantium-all without anaesthesia.

-In order to keep her under control, the facility developed something known as Trigger Scent; she was conditioned from a young age, so that upon smelling it she blacked out and blindly attacked whoever had been laced with the scent.

-The only control Laura could ever exert over her own life was by cutting herself with her claws. Because the wounds were self-inflicted, they did not heal up, and as such left scars.

-Her sensei, Tanaka, and her mother, Sarah, were the only people to ever treat her as a human being - and more importantly, as a child. As a result, Rice chose Tanaka as the first test subject for Trigger, and when the error of Sarah's ways eventually became too much for her and she decided to escape with Laura, Rice put Trigger in Sarah's hair. After destroying the facility and finally gaining freedom, Laura murdered her mother.

-Laura went to live with her cousin Megan, whom she had previously saved from a serial killer who had been kidnapping children, and her Aunt Debbie, in San Francisco. Megan was the first person Laura ever became friends with and vice versa, but unfortunately, Debbie's boyfriend worked for the facility. Kimura, specifically created to counter Laura's abilities and punish her (for example-- when Rice told her to attack Kimura and she was obviously unable to, this was deemed reason enough for her to be beaten) turned up at their house, and tried to kill Megan and Debbie. While chained with adamantium to Kimura, Laura cut off her own hand to save Megan and Debbie; after escaping once more, she gave Megan and Debbie all the money she had and the passports she and Sarah were going to use to leave the country.

-After that, Laura retreated further into herself and wound up living in New York City. Not knowing what to do without missions being assigned to her and having spent her life selling her talents to the highest bidder, Laura became a prostitute, working for a pimp known as Zebra Daddy. She specialized in dominating masochistic clients, using her claws to cut them.

-Eventually, a John wanted to try “something new,” and committed suicide using a knife in front of her. Another mutant, Kiden Nixon, who was told in a dream by her dead father to visit the motel room Laura was doing business in, busted in while Laura was sitting on the bed in only her underwear, sitting her wrists with her claws, the mutilated body at her feet.

-Kiden and her teacher, Cameron, decided to take Laura along with them and bought her lunch in attempt to get her to talk - and that's when she found herself in The City.

POWER: Extractable claws on hands and feet that can cut through pretty much anything and are also unbreakable, due to being coated with adamantium. Extremely strong and agile. Heightened senses. Super speedy healing, can also reattach limbs. Immune to most drugs and toxins, although she can be affected by certain drugs if given sufficient dosage. Has mastered martial arts, hand-to-hand combat and use of weaponry. She also knows three languages!
CLASS: Hero.
SUPERHERO NAME: Talon.
ALTER EGO: Laura Kinney [although she probably won't be too concerned with keeping it a secret], and whatever she gets dragged into [probably by Kiden].

FIRST PERSON:
I was brought here by the Porter to protect 'The City', he said, but considering my age, that would not be required nor encouraged.
Regardless, I was given a place to live. Why?

What are we intended to do here?

THIRD PERSON:
This city was not different from any other. It was certainly not different from New York. Taking a whiff of the air, she could taste industrial smoke; she could pinpoint the exact location of the factories, the stains of oil on the asphalt, the school, the apartment where a child was murdered about four days before, and the shops below.

Laura sat inside her room, arms folded neatly in her lap, eyes scanning the streets outside her window. They were as loud and bustling with people as anywhere else, and yet, it was not the same. Here, she had a room, a bed, a fridge full of food, all of which she could refer to as more or less her own. It was a first. She doubted it would last long.

Her license - or the way Iron Man referred to it, her "dog tags", which she found herself reluctant to use - was placed inside her coat pocket, and she reached for it, felt its surface with her finger without taking it out. What was she to do with that? What was she brought here for? She had no mission, he said. What would Iron Man gain from providing housing for illegal mutants like her?

Surveillance. Experimentation. Business. Gathering forces for a future battle. It could be any of those things. It could be something else entirely. And though her doubts would not cease, she did not find herself particularly bothered by them - not yet, at least. When the time for her to take action came, she would - but for now, this was... oddly comfortable, she found.

She would wait.
