Stupidest Jacko quotes?

A fan on the BBC said "He was the Kurt Cobain of our generation." Even allowing for the fact that Michael and Kurt were almost the same age, I have to ask, in what sense? One wore a dress and the other had plastic surgery to look more like Elizabeth Taylor?

From Sky news "Now that Michael Jackson has died, what will happen to his 50 night run at the O2 is unclear." They should get that guy from Britain's Got Talent who did Jackson routines while dressed up as Darth Vader to play 50 nights.

Currently the most recommended comment on the BBC Hav Yer Say thread is: "This man meant little to me. He was mentally unstable, sqwandered great wealth that could have saved literally millions of starving children yet he chose to live in a fantasy world of theme parks ,child like environments/bizarre excess I am sorry and respectful to his fans and family, but have perspective. He lived as a weirdo, had talent, but ultimately was an unhappy recluse who gave pleasure to some, but undoubtably unhappiness to many others, RIP - let the legal battles begin for his $$$" Chris from Brazil feels "Sorry to hear of his death, although it's not really surprising, you can't abuse your body like he did and expect to live forever. Can't really understand all the hype though. He was just a pop singer and a good dancer, who happened to have some good albums in the early 80's, but he neither wrote nor arranged the music, so was in many ways a manufactured star. He had nothing to offer in recent years and I think those that bought tickets to next months shows have been saved a lot of embarassment."

Jacko faked his death and/or was killed by an "experimental bio-weapon".

I also heard "The King of Pop is Dead. Long live the King!" which only makes sense in a situation where the deceased king is automatically replaced by a new king as in a monarchical state, and would suggest that the deceased monkey-lover could be immediately replaced by some alternative candidate like Leon Jackson.

The Guardian were polling celebs to find out who's now the greatest living pop/rock music star person/band/group. Consensus seemed to be Coldplay, although U2 get a couple of votes, Gary Lightbody rates Elbow and Guy Garvey picks I Am Kloot. Other names cropping up include Jay-Z, Lykke Li, Tony Bennett, Baaba Maal, Beyonce, and Prince.

blah, music
