I went to see Let The Right One In last night, which is very good, if you don't like your horror movies to be scary, which I don't. The fact that it's set in Sweden in 1982 is far more odd and disturbing than anything else about the film. It is all snowy and naturalistic with terrible clothes and blond boys with long hair and everybody tucks their sweaters into their jeans! There are occasional moments of gruesomeness and a fair amount of fake blood (it's nice dark fake blood not the bright red stuff more suitable for painting children's toys that seems common today). Good pre-teen vampire fun. Also, I think I'm going to watch Twilight in the near future.

I've also been invited to a party with a theme of Religious Icons involving fancy dress. Apparently there are going to be a lot of Jesuses and someone as the shroud of Turin. If I can get a stone, a lion, a bible, and a long fake beard I could go as St Jerome. But that might be a bit much to carry while I'm trying to drink. I guess there's always the Virgin Mary. Or indeed L Ron Hubbard (sailor's cap, cravat, and wads of money).
