Monte Carlo Or Bus!

On some Radio 4 show the other day they were discussing books that sound more exciting if you remove the last letter, like Far From The Madding Crow or Three Men In A Boa. But I couldn't think of much, other than Da Vinci Cod and The Atkins Die.

Applied to film, it tends to make things sound crappier: Jaw, The Bird, Psych, Shin, On The Tow, Fists Of Fur, Buster Keaton getting taxonomical in The Genera, or The Madness Of George II. Repo Ma sounds like a Sly Stallone comedy. And I'm not sure even the most devoted AA Milne fan would enjoy sexy robot marsupial movie Cat On A Hot Tin Roo. Steve Martin's career would probably be improved had he made A Simple Twist of Fat, Cheaper by the Doze, and My Blue Heave. I'm not sure about Blow U, but who wouldn't watch Steven Spielberg's E? Also: The Land Before Tim, Escape To Victor, Grumpy Old Me, and Big Trouble In Little Chin.

film, blah, literature
