The Diary of Orange

June 20th 2006
My name is Orange. I will be traveling to Ukraine for 10 days exploring its major cities and Chernobyl. I am leaving from John F. Kennedy airport to Boryspil airport In Kiev, Ukraine. When I get there I will take the Kiev metro and travel to the “Paplas Sporta” station and walk through the center of Kiev to my hotel called Premier palace. It is in the heart of Kiev, and practically in Kreschatik Street. Kreschatik is one of the biggest and oldest shopping center in Ukraine. My room is 379$ a night.

Today I am going to Kreschatik Street. During the day it has lots of carts selling everything you can think of. I want to buy Fruit or clothes and made by Ukrainians. Kreschatik Street has been destroyed and rebuilt countless times. I want to see ruins of the street before it was rebuilt. After I am coming back because I want to get some more rest, I have a huge trip ahead of me.

Today will be my second day. I am going to see the chamber orchestra Play at the National philharmonic of Ukraine. It is at 2 vladimirsky Spusk Street which means I have to take a long metro route. Yelizaveta Sandunova will be there too. He is a famous Russian Ukrainian opera singer. I hope to see him tonight.

Today i am going on a boat ride down the Dnieper River. It is 2,290 KM, the longest river in Ukraine. I am taking the metro to Dienpo station, because it is right next to the water. It is a nice day and the weather will be good. I hope that the water won’t be too cold!

Today I am packing up at the Premier palace. I am heading for Boryspil airport and I am getting on a small plane and going to Odessa, another city in Ukraine. I am mostly going to look for architecture and sculptures since Odessa has fabulous art.

June 25th 2006
Today I just got off the plane. i took a bus to my hotel called the Londonskaya hotel. It is 756$ a night! It’s very luxurious. I went to the center and looked at the Monument for governor vorontsof. It is a huge bronze statue of the governor who died in 1893. He was also a general.

June 26th 2006
Today I went to the Odessa market. They have such good food! I had Varenysky: a doughy pouch filled with potatos. I also had Holubtsi: Cabbage rolls with certain spices and flavors. And I also had Horrika: An alcoholic beverage like vodka. Today is my last day here. I am going up to Pripyat to research and hopefully explore Chernobyl.

June 27th 2006
I had to take a bus route to Chernobyl because there is no airport. Pripyat is right above it, but I cannot stay there because it is abandoned. I am going to the Chernobyl library to study about the Chernobyl plant accident to learn a little more than I already do. I will go inside the last few days I hope.

June 28th 2006
Today I went to a building with a helicopter landing above it. I, along with 3 other men named Craig, Pat, and Jarrod. We were allowed to go in and fly low over Chernobyl to take a look at what we were about to be exploring. (I am going in with them) It was very frightening what happened in there. The whole building was covered in black and you could see old rusting things all mangled and flipped over inside.
