I'm kinda doing a sort of octowrimo thing right now.  I may or may not be able to do nano due to how school works out.  I'm doing a creative degree and need to be writing now.  Iit's not something that can be put off for a month.  I've gotten 8k and am trying to get the other 40 in the next 5 days or so, so my current goal is around 10k/day.  I'd

Good luck! I've never managed to finish NaNo due to it being right at the holiday season. I wish it were in January instead! Hope you finish! What are you writing?

Magic realism, I think. Or really messed up fantasy. I'm not sure there's much of a difference. :)

I have a girl who discovers she's stuffed with straw, and an undead trickster/fool who shrinks her and then takes her through the spaces between the walls of the world on the back of a weasel to see a cosmic whale, who, in turn, sends the straw girl on a quest to the queen of ice and lightening. There's magic mirrors, a dragon, giant spiders, stitched up people and a bunch of other interesting things pulled from literature and myth. It's a story about love and sadness and the end of the world.

So far it's very violent and dramatic and pretty (at least to me). I'm posting it under my writing filter on lj as I go so if anyone is bored and wants to read along, just friend me and I'll add you to the list of people who can see it.

I'm currently plowing through the end of my work in progress so that I can do the sequel for NaNo, and--what with being a full-time student--things are definitely going slower than I hoped they would. I'm writing fantasy, too! ^..^ I hope you end up doing NaNo, despite being busy. I managed it last year, despite working 30+ hours a week, so it IS possible. ^______^
