Kristoph: *sits behind his desk, typing up a Livejournal entry while he waits for lunch to be delivered. He checks his watch, remembering the time Phoenix told him when he placed the order to Angel's Lunchland. He finishes up his typing and straightens his desk a bit*

Kristoph: *calls to the next room* Wright? Should be any minute now.

Wright: *looks up from some file or report he was staring blankly at* Alright, coming over.

Wright: *sets the file down gladly, and pushes his chair back. As he heads into the main room of the office, he stretches out his limbs*

Kristoph: *glances up at him with a smile* Are you doing all right in there?

Wright: *rubs the back of his neck a little, partially to stretch his arm, partially out of his usual embarrassment* I'm doing fine, but that latest case you gave me to look over... I'm not used to handling those sorts of incidents, I guess.

Kristoph: They must seem rather boring compared to the cases you used to take, I'm sure. But there's nothing wrong with a peaceful practice, either. *his smile grows a bit teasing* Civil cases also pay better.

Wright: *shrugs, cracking a grin at that* I was pretty glad when my clients paid at all, really.

Angel: *gets out of her car, noting the time. She's a few minutes late, and doubts that Phoenix will care, though she wants to try and make a good impression on this Kristoph Gavin, whom she hasn't met yet. She makes her way into the building and pauses at the door to collect herself before knocking on it*

Kristoph: *looks up, and straightens his suit as he pushes to his feet* Can you get that, Wright?

Wright: Sure. *heads over to the door, opening it wide to let the woman standing there inside* *smiles as he meets her eyes* Hey, Ms. Starr.

Angel: *smiles up at him* Hello, Mr. Wright! It's been a while. How are you?

Wright: Great. *grins* ...And pretty hungry, actually. It's been a while, huh?

Angel: I can't see how you could go so long without Lunchland! *laughs teasingly*

Kristoph: *rounds the desk, but he doesn't say anything right away, expecting Wright to make an introduction*

Wright: *wryly* Well, I had to make a few cutbacks in my budget until lately. *turns to Kristoph as he approaches* Oh--this is Kristoph Gavin, by the way... my boss. And Gavin, this is Ms. Starr, Lunchland, uh, lunchlady... and police detective.

Kristoph: *offers his hand politely* A pleasure to finally make your acquaintance in person, Miss Starr.

Angel: *looks him over, assessing him for a few moments before extending her hand to his* The pleasure is all mine. I've heard so much about you.

Kristoph: Have you? *chuckles as he gives Angel's hand a tender shake and then lets go* Nothing too offensive, I hope.

Angel: Nothing offensive at all. *smiles* Hopefully you haven't heard anything offensive about Lunhchland? *eyes Phoenix here*

Wright: *sweats a little* N-not at all! I just recommended against trying the more... particular lunches--like the trilobite or the peppered fish guts--until a later date.

Angel: *smirks a little at his reaction* I thought as much! Don't worry. I won't hold it against you. You've got to be experienced to try them, anyway!~

Kristoph: Peppered fish guts? Actually, you've got me very curious now. Maybe next time.

Angel: *grins a bit* Here's a man who can take a risk.

Wright: *weakly, as if remembering something or other* ...I did warn you in advance.

Kristoph: *takes a step back* Please, won't you come in? There's fresh coffee, if you'd like a cup.

Angel: *considers it a moment* Well, alright, since you asked! I suppose I could stay a bit.

Wright: *it takes a moment for the accepted offer to click, and he turns slightly red when it does* I'll, uh... go get that. *already turning towards the back room* What do you take in your coffee, Ms. Starr?

Angel: Just one and one, if you don't mind. *glances to him*

Wright: *nods, and heads into the back office to pour her a mug*

Kristoph: *moves back towards his desk and pulls a chair out for her* Please, have a seat. I'm always telling Wright that this office could use more visitors.

Angel: *takes the seat without hesitance, crossing her arms and looking quite at ease* Is it just you and Mr. Wright, or...?

Kristoph: At the moment, yes. My practice isn't quite large enough yet that I can afford to hire in any other associates. *pulls his chair out from behind his desk to join her* But someday.

Angel: Well, from what I've heard of you... *smiles* I'm certain you will definitely reach that point. Besides which... A positive reputation seems to be rather easy to obtain around here.

Wright: *has re-entered the main office with Angel's mug of coffee, and offers it to her now*

Angel: Oh! Thank you... *takes it from him, nodding a little*

Kristoph: There is a rather large demand in the field of law these days. *looks up to Phoenix* Pull over a chair, Wright. It's not often we get to entertain visitors here that aren't on their way to trial.

Wright: That's true. *moves a nearby chair over to the desk and takes a seat, turning to look at Angel* But are you heading over to the courtroom soon though,? I haven't heard about the investigations you're taking on now that you're back on the force...

Angel: *stiffens a little* No, of course you haven't. I haven't been on any. *her voice has a slightly bitter edge to it. She lifts the mug and sips from it for a moment* ...I think it'll change soon, though. *sighs* I do alternating shifts between Lunchland and the station, where I do paperwork, mostly.

Kristoph: *glances between them, not quite understanding what they're talking about because he doesn't know Angel's full history* That must keep you rather busy. I can't imagine! But you look like you're handling yourself very well, if you don't mind my saying so.

Angel: I do keep a rather busy schedule. It's all quite repetitive, though, so it's easy to keep up.~

Wright: *leans an elbow on the desk* Speaking of busy schedules... did Edgeworth get a chance to talk to you recently?

Angel: *brightens* Yes- he did. He mentioned you... I'm not sure if he told you, but we did go out last week. Was that at your encouraging?

Wright: *grins wryly* Something like that. I'm glad you're getting him out, for once.

Kristoph: *glances between the two of them curiously* Mr. Edgeworth? I had no idea he was seeing someone.

Angel: *runs a hand through her hair* Oh! Well... We've just gone on the one date, but it did go quite well. I was a bit surprised by him to begin with, really.

Wright: Knowing Edgeworth, it's not going to be something he's going to publicize. But he... surprised you? *raises an eyebrow*

Angel: Well, of course. *looks as though this should be obvious* Just the fact that he was interested in me and all. It... wasn't a bad surprise. *smiles*

Kristoph: *chuckles* I hardly find it surprising that any man would be interested in you, Miss Starr.

Angel: *laughs, raising a hand to her mouth* Such flattery! Oh... No, that's not the problem, if you don't mind me saying for myself. It's just... Well, Miles is different, isn't he? *tilts her head, looking to Phoenix*

Kristoph: Ah, yes. Now that you mention it, I know exactly what you mean. *glances at Wright, as if there's some other remark he was about to make, but then reigns it in*

Wright: *seems semi-oblivious to their stares* He's different, yeah. *glances to Kristoph, chuckling* ...Although you two aren't that all unlike each other, you know?

Kristoph: *his brow raises, not quite sure if Wright is oblivious or poking fun at him* Well. If you say so, but I certainly don't see much of a resemblance, outside our careers.

Wright: *with a grin* Oh come on--you're both workaholics, more likely to spend a day inside reading rather than going out. And you both enjoy 'fine culture' and grooming and have other... colorful tastes.

Kristoph: *looks surprised for a moment, but then laughs* You've got me there. Though I have to say, I'm rather concerned for any man who doesn't consider proper grooming a priority.

Angel: I certainly do admire a man who takes care of himself. *sets her mug down, nodding a bit*

Wright: *makes a bit of a face, glancing down to his nails* Like I said--the resemblance is there!

Kristoph: *takes Phoenix's hand, turning it to get a look for himself. He tsks.* You haven't kept it up at all, I see. *looks to Angel* I did help Wright here with his nails just the other day, but apparently he's quite hopeless.

Wright: *flushes and tries to tug his hand back quickly* H-hey--I don't even have one of those filer things lying around, much less the time to give myself a manicure...

Angel: *smirks* I have to say it, Mr. Wright- I can't picture a man like you having the patience to do that at all. *peers at Kristoph's nails* Not like that, anyway.

Kristoph: *lets go of Phoenix, all too happy to show his nails off for Angel* Perhaps it's for the best. Mr. Wright does have his own unique set of charms. His cuticles don't hamper him... *wrinkles his nose just faintly* ...too badly.

Angel: *leans forward, placing her own hand next to Kristoph's in comparison* More men ought to get into this sort of thing. *gives a sideways glance to Phoenix*

Wright: *looking incredulously at Kristoph first, and then at Angel when she speaks up* W-wait, what-- I-I--- *beads of sweat form on his forehead and his face glows tomato red; he looks thoroughly embarrassed by the lunchlady taking sides*

Wright: ...It isn't a crime to have normal-looking nails! And there's just something about paying that much attention to them that... that...

Angel: ...That implies that you're gay? *looks utterly delighted* Of course not!~ You know, metrosexuality is quite in these days.

Kristoph: * looks like he's stifling his laughter, but composes himself very quickly* Honestly, I find it more strange that it even needs a label like that. To me, proper nail care is as natural as showering daily. And I hope you won't argue that's taking personal grooming too far.

Wright: ....... N-no, of course not!!

Wright: *looks as though he's still struggling internally with a few notions, but he finally fairly collapses back in his chair, at a loss for words*

Kristoph: *grins, looking all too pleased with himself* At least that's a start.

Angel: And if you're certain of your own sexuality, what's the issue? *smiles, taking another sip of her coffee*

Wright: *shrugs nonchalantly, glancing from her to Kristoph* Well... that depends what sexuality you're certain you are, I guess? *smirks*

Kristoph: *laughs again, this time pushing to his feet* If you keep that up, Wright, I'm going to start thinking that you're insinuating something. *smiles at Angel* Would you like a refill on your coffee, since I'm on my way there?

Angel: *looking highly amused, Angel gives a little nod and holds her cup out* Hm, why not?~ Thank you.

Wright: *is content to just sit there and rub the back of his neck, trying to digest what exactly has just gone on*

Kristoph: *ducks into the back room, refilling Angel's mug. He calls back to the main office* Would you like some also, Wright?

Wright: *calling out* Oh, uh-- sure. ...Do you need a hand back there?

Kristoph: No, I think I'll manage. *pours two more mugs*

Angel: *turns to Phoenix, offering him a smile and finally relieving him of the previous topic.* So you enjoy your work here?

Wright: *leans forward, looking quite relieved at the change in topic* Yeah, it never gets dull really, working with Gavin here... *glances over to the door of the back room with a grin* And I mean... it's some way to stay in the field, right? I've been lucky.

Angel: *nods, her look softening* You have been lucky. *pauses* He's certainly a man who's sure of himself and what he wants. And handsome, too. *winks*

Wright: *at her winking, he turns slightly red again* ...Well, I guess I can agree with all three of those things. I mean, it's certainly clear he spends enough time on achieving the latter...

Angel: Maybe you should grow your hair out? Let's see. *leans forward with a mock-intense look on her face, as though scrutinizing him* Hmm... I think you ought to.

Kristoph: *returns with the three mugs, chuckling* I'm not sure even that powerful gel of his would be effective, if it was any longer. *hands Angel's mug back to her*

Angel: Thank you.~ *takes the mug back* Oh, well, I was teasing, of course. You're quite attached to your hair, aren't you, Mr. Wright?

Wright: *runs a hand over a hair spike a little self-consciously, but smirks as he does so* I'm not planning on changing it, even though some people make me want to cut it all off, sometimes. *to Kristoph* I'd need to know what it is that keeps your hair together if I did, though.

Kristoph: *smirks as he hands Wright his mug* Now Wright, I'm sure your daughter must have told you by now: a magician never reveals his or her secrets.

Wright: *gives a nod of thanks as he takes his mug and takes a sip from it* True enough, but unless you've got a dove or three stashed in that twist, I've got to say it's more a trade secret than a magic trick.

Kristoph: *his eyes narrow in good humor* I'm still not telling you.

Wright: *shrugs good-naturedly, sitting back* Heh--well, I tried!

Angel: *watches the exchange between the two of them. She leans over and picks up her basket while they talk and begins flipping through her notebook of orders* So you ordered...

Angel: ...the caviar lunch, for you- *looks to Kristoph* And... the Wright Way lunch special? *smiles at Phoenix*

Wright: That's right. I've got the coupon you sent-- *searches in his pocket for it*

Kristoph: *accepts his lunch with a smile, and peeks inside* Thank you, Miss Starr. It looks delicious.

Angel: *holds her hand out for the coupon, and passes the Wright Way over to its namesake* You're quite welcome.

Wright: *hands her the coupon and takes the lunchbox, eagerly opening it up as well*

Wright: *removes the plastic fork attached to the box and takes a large bite of the bitter layer--his forehead quickly knits up in reaction to the taste--quickly followed by a mouthful of the layer underneath* *swallowing with relief and satisfaction* Mmf. It tastes just like how I remember it.

Kristoph: *finishes opening up his, but pauses, glancing to Angel* Ah, Miss Starr. I hate to have to eat in front of you when you're empty handed. I don't suppose you would care for some of mine?

Angel: *tilts her head at him* Oh, no, I'm just fine! I ought to be going along anyway. You've been too nice to let me sit down to talk!

Kristoph: *puts his lunch down on the desk and stands, offering his hand to help her up* I hate to see you go so soon, but I'm afraid we have work to be getting back to as well. Thank you so much for coming all this way.

Angel: *smiles and takes his hand, standing up gracefully* It's not a problem!~ I'd deliver any time. Hopefully you'd be interested!

Wright: *stands up as well, but it's with lunchbox and fork still in hand-- and still eating a mouthful*

Kristoph: I'm sure we'll be ordering again. *glances at Phoenix* Judging by how much Wright seems to be enjoying his, if nothing else.

Angel: *laughs a little at Phoenix's expense* I'd be happy to.

Wright: *glares a bit at the both of them, but in good humor; he's enjoying the food too much to grumble*

Kristoph: *pulls out his wallet, and discreetly hands Angel the amount he owes, with a generous tip* We're looking forward to it already.

Angel: *accepts the money with a little smile, nodding her head.* Call me up any time. It was so nice to meet you.

Wright: *between mouthfuls of food* It was good to see you again, Ms. Starr.

Kristoph: *walks her to the door* It's been a pleasure, Miss Starr. I hope the rest of your afternoon isn't too busy.

Angel: It shouldn't be... *gives a look to Phoenix* Do you mind if I have a word with Mr. Wright before I go? *smiles up at Kristoph*

Kristoph: Oh, not at all. Excuse me. *returns for his lunch* I'll just duck into the other room, if you need a moment of privacy. Good day, Miss Starr. *takes his caviar with him into the side room*

Angel: *waves at him briefly before turning her attention back to Phoenix. She says nothing, crossing her arms under her chest*

Wright: Uh... *sets down his lunchbox finally, and looks to her* Was there something you wanted to speak to me about?

Angel: You said you were seeing someone, hmm?

Wright: Oh, yeah. *rubs the back of his neck, a rather goofy smile beaming on his features* You haven't met her before though.

Angel: *seems amused at the look on his face* No, I haven't. What's she like?

Wright: Huh? Well... *thinks for a moment* She's a really kind and thoughtful person. Very sweet and sincere... gentle... and really beautiful. *glances off, looking rather flustered, still with that grin on his face* She made really great boxed lunches, back when we were in college... And she's got the sweetest laugh. *with a bit of a happy sigh* Her name's Iris.

Angel: Oh, that's so sweet. *Angel's expression softens, and then she looks thoughtful.* And Miles likes her?

Wright: They've met... *looks a bit confused* And I think Edgeworth liked her. Why?

Angel: Oh, well. He just... made a suggestion.

Wright: A suggestion about Iris?

Angel: Oh, no, just in general. He said that we should all go out together! *smiles brightly*

Wright: *doubtfully* All of us, as in... you and him, and Iris and me? That doesn't sound like something Edgeworth would suggest...

Wright: *chuckles* ...You must really be having an effect on him, Ms. Starr.

Angel: *turns her head away from Phoenix so he can't see her eyes. She feels a little bit guilty. Oh, but it's only the tiniest twinge. She laughs behind her hand* Yes... An effect. *looks back to Phoenix* So you'd like to?~

Wright: *glances at her as she turns away--but he doesn't comment on it*

Wright: Yeah, sign us up. I'm sure Rissie would love to meet you. Just let us know a few days ahead so she can catch the train down to the city. And... make sure Edgeworth doesn't pull out last minute. *grins*

Angel: Oh, of course. Perhaps a few days after the party? You will be there, right? And... I'll be sure he doesn't cancel. *smirks*

Wright: *grins* Great-- and yeah, I'll be there.

Angel: Then I'll see you there. *smiles back* Alright, now, I've got to let you finish your lunch.

Wright: Thanks. See you soon, then.

Angel: And remember that you can call Lunchland any ti-- Oh, what am I saying. *rolls her eyes* The special this upcoming Friday is the Squid Wheels. I'd say you should be sure NOT to call. *winks*

Angel: See you later, Mr. Wright!~ *readjusts her coat and basket, smiles brightly at Phoenix, and heads out the door trying to think of a way to explain things to Miles. She murmurs to herself* Let's see... Mr. Wright suggested that... Yes, that'll work.

Wright: *watches her leave before heading back to Kristoph's desk. He takes a seat again and picks up his lunchbox*

Kristoph: *when Kristoph can no longer hear voices in the next room he peeks back in. Since it looks as if Angel has left, he returns with the rest of his lunch* She's quite a woman, isn't she?

Wright: *takes a sip of coffee as he turns to Kristoph* She really is. Not someone to be taken lightly though, especially in court... *grimaces slightly at the memory*

Kristoph: Oh? *looks very interested as he retakes his seat* May I ask how you two met?

Wright: About three years ago, she was the key witness to a 'murder' in the underground parking lot of the Prosecutor's Office... *thinks for a minute* Right, you know Lana Skye--it was her trial.

Kristoph: Oh yes, the Skye trial. A fascinating case. * munches happily on his caviar* In any case, she makes a delicious lunch.

Wright: Yeah. *grabs another double-bite of his lunch* She makes a near-airtight case presentation in the courtroom, too. ...Maybe you'll see her there at some point.

Kristoph: *smiles* I think I would enjoy that a great deal.

Wright: *raises an eyebrow* Oh?

Kristoph: *looks quite amused* Of course. She's a beautiful and charming woman who isn't afraid to speak her mind. That sounds like an ideal witness to me.

Wright: *chuckles* If she's on your side. *tilts his head* Is she your idea of an ideal woman as well? You were really laying it on thick back there.

Kristoph: *looks a little surprised, and has to put down the bite he was about to take* Was I? I was just trying to be polite. Though she certainly is an engaging woman.

Wright: *takes another two bites of his lunch, sitting back in his chair* Yeah, she is.

Kristoph: *watches Phoenix for a moment, and then smirks* Well? Would you say she is your ideal kind of woman, then?

Wright: Hmm? *swallows his mouthful* No, of course not. I've got my Iris. *grins, with a touch of stupid-happiness still on his features*

Kristoph: Yes, of course. You didn't mention that on your journal, didn't you? Things are going well?

Wright: Yeah. It's ...a little weird, getting back together after such a long time. *glances down at his mug* We dated five years ago and just got back together recently. And it's a long distance relationship...*a stupid grin* but neither of us mind all that much.

Kristoph: She must be quite a woman. *smiles* Good for you, Wright. I hope I'm able to meet her sometime.

Wright: *finishes off his lunch, leaving a chunk of the sweet layer for last* I've mentioned you to her before... I can introduce you to her next time she's in the city, if you'd like.

Kristoph: I'd like that very much. Just let me know ahead of time, and we'll arrange something. *finishes his lunch and stands to toss the remains away*

Wright: Sure. *finishes off his coffee and stands, going over to throw it out in the garbage can as well*

Kristoph: *takes a minute to stretch his shoulders and then heads back to his desk* But in the mean time, it's back to work.

Wright: Right. *grabs his mug, taking Kristoph's empty one as well* Did you want any more?

Kristoph: No thank you. I think I've had enough for today. *retakes his seat, eying the book on his desk that he's tempted to just pick up and keep reading*

Wright: *takes the mugs to the back room, pouring himself another cup before he gets down to work again*

Kristoph: *sighs and puts the book in his desk so he won't be distracted*
