State of the Union: IC issues

WHOOPS. Finally addressing issues raised by a drop that happened AGES AGO, and the consequences of that. BABBLING.

Trucy is usually super chipper and I feel like I might be playing her rather static, so here are my thoughts. And I hope this explains how I choose to have her react in a certain way. Namely why she's so HUFF HUFF PUFFERFISH CRANKY at anyone who disses on her magic.

-----

Magic is incredibly important to Trucy. She grew up in a magician family; she's performed magic her whole life. It is both her career and her passion, but also one of the few remaining links she has to her dead (to her knowledge) biological magician parents as she is the sole inheritor of the Gramayre estate including the secrets behinds all their illusions. Therefore she wants to live up to her family's old legacy.

And being in camp makes her feel kind of inadequate. Not like really low self-esteem, but she has lost the chip on her shoulder.

Real Magic exists in camp, and her parlor tricks don't impress anyone (hell, her best trick, her Magical Panties, is nothing special. It's the equivalent to a video game character's inventory system). The ones who are nice about it humour her, but Trucy can read body language. She can tell when people lie to her face, but she never calls any of these people out. [I feel like this isn't a power she holds over people, unless there's a use for it. She really doesn't care if strangers lie to her, she only doesn't like it when her close friends and family do that to her. Hence also why I don't play out LIE DETECTOR TRUCY-TAN ICLY]. She takes it very personally when people are rude and make a joke out of her profession/craft. That usually results in an angry reaction out of her, which is really rare (Frankly it's rare for Trucy to be anything /but/ happy). It also makes her really sad, but expressing sadness something she finds really difficult

So as a result she's doing A LOT OF BOTTLING UP of her emotions. This is in part because Phoenix isn't present. Her adoptive dad has always been a source of continuous support and he's the only one she allows herself to open up to. But not only that, her outward, perky personality is part of her on stage persona. NOT TO SAY SHE'S BEING FAKE, but she is 'on' 24/7. She's never even shown out of costume in the entire game. Trucy Wright, performer, Magician Extraordinaire is integral to who she is. She's a professional. She can never break the illusion.

---

Also WELL OBVIOUSLY on top of that, she's feels lonely Phoenix left without her. She has a fear of abandonment thanks to having two parental figures disappear on her when she was a kid. She doesn't blame Camp!Phoenix, since it's not people's choice when they leave camp. Plus, it was newly disbarred Phoenix, not her hobo!nick, she knows he should be back with Little!Trucy who needs him more than any other time in her life. It's not something she's happy with, but she realize she had to cope. I DIDN'T PLAY ANY OF THAT OUT. WHOOPS. But that is my reasoning. She /wouldn't/ show any of that. P-P-Poker face.

[At the end of case 4, Apollo announces in court that the Kristoph Gavin's murder victim was Trucy's biological father. Before that, he hesitates and looks over at Trucy who keeps a straight face and encourages him. It's later revealed that Phoenix told Trucy her dad had died beforehand and she is devastated. I feel Trucy's stoicness also serves as encouragement to Apollo when he needs it, but Trucy, even though she's really strong, draws a lot of strength from Phoenix. The fact that he's not there is something that's sad to think about :(a]

this was surprisingly a downer to type?
