Canon (indicate anime, manga, game version if there are distinctions): Gyakuten Saiban/Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Setting of Origin (country, year, planet name, descriptive, flowery language goes here if unknown specifically, approximate to our time) Lives in America, Los Angeles in the slight future (2016-2018~ish), but not by much, as his world is exactly the same as ours. His world is COMPLETELY NORMAL. No magic. Just a very bizarre but accurate way of channeling spirits is as occult as it gets. Also a different legal system and more complicated murders??
Typical Style of dress (pics are awesome): White button up shirt, blue suit, pink-red tie, attorney's button, pointy hair. Very normal looking aside from the hair and his weirdass eyebrows. Here is a picture~!

But seriously, one of the things about Phoenix that is kind of interesting for any young-male-japanese-videogame-protagonist is that...he really just looks normal. Not overly pretty or GAR or bara oh god. I wish they'd make up their minds on if his eyes are blue or brown. :(
Anything for aura readers/reiatsu users/sixth sense folks to pick up: 100% normal human. Sorry! Though if he has a charged magatama with him, you might pick up something?? Nothing coming from him though.
Jusenkyo (spring) curse? Turns into a penguin.
Other typical status changes, island-borne or canon: None~! But I abuse him a lot so lol who knows what will happen.
What will incite emo? Having a friend go home from either his world or one he has made on the island. Eventually he will get over it and know that they are some place better.
…Rage? Messing with the people he cares about. Really that's about it. That and being an ass to him. Or uh SURPRAIZ PW VILLAIN CHARACTERS OH SHIT.
… NO U response? VON KARMA NAKED RUNNING BACKWARDS THROUGH A CORNFIELD WITH A TASER.
Oh I mean anything rather strange since he's so normal you know. :D
How do they see the Island, in a symbolic, metaphorical sense: Phoenix sees the island as many things. A prison and yet, it is also home. He knows that it could be weeks or years before he goes home, or even never. With that in mind, Phoenix is trying his best to view island as home, as he knows pining for LA will do him no good, as it didn't work the first two months, now did it? His only problem is trying to make himself useful around the island. He's not very strong or accustomed to the heavy labor that comes with survival of the fittest. Thanks to the island, he is now thankfully more well adjusted to the strange, though still, the other residents never fail to shock and amaze.
