that was close
So yesterday I went to open an acct with the cable company, to get cable modem net access... and was told that they don't service my area. Startled, I called the other two companies in the city which provide cable and they both told me that they don't provide service to my building!! I talked to my super and they said, no one in the bldg has cable, they have Direct TV... I silently freaked out, thinking I'd have to pay for a phone line and get DSL, which would be really expensive and overkill since I don't need a home phone...
This morning I called the second cable company again and the nice woman actually went and checked with someone, since they cover the buildings next to me but not mine...and indeed they DO cover my bldg! Yay!! So they'll come out and hook me up when I return from the retreat, 5/20.
I hate how reliant I am on the interweb. But, it's where ya'll are...
In other fascinating news, I have incredible tv reception-- like, it looks like I must have cable or something, the picture is almost perfectly clear on every station. Cool!!
My cat is not yet comfortable in my apt, and it freaks me out at night when I am falling asleep and he jumps off the bed and sits by the doorway staring out at the hall...
I really hope to have time to check up on your posts, I haven't read in about a week!
