One day past the due date

Yesterday was Saige's due date.  I had a midwife appointment yesterday, which didn't exactly go all too well.  It was rather stressful.  I found that my blood pressure was high, so Carolee took some blood and urine samples to send to the lab to make sure I wasn't developing pregnancy induced hypertension.  In the case of that occurrence, I would have to be hospitalized and likely induced there to have my baby.  I was greatly relieved when last night she didn't call.

Other than that, the appointment was okay.  She did explain to me that even if the bloodwork came back fine, she'd like to induce me in the morning.  So that is what happened when I went back this morning.  I had a catheter shoved up into my cervix and inflated with  a saline solution to force my cervix open.  Today I have to do things to keep my blood pressure down and walk walk walk.  With any luck, I will be in labor by morning.  If not, then Carolee will make me a castor oil shake that should get contractions started.  However, I got the feeling that she thought since it looked like my body was already heading into labor (1 cm dilated and I have been losing my mucus plug over the last couple days) she thinks just the catheter will get labor going.

By Friday I should have a baby!
