Second, Referendum 71 is confusing. This is a referendum which would put up for vote the legislature's 2007 decision to extend to same-sex domestic partnerships many of the same rights given to opposite-sex marriages. In the next two months, they need to gather 125,000 signatures to make it on to the ballot. If this happens, a 'yes' vote on the referendum is upholding the law as passed. So, uh, vote yes on 71, but don't sign the petition that puts it on the ballot in the first place.
