Curry time! Curry time! Curry time!

I'm nearing a workable solution for the Zune thing. It hurts to talk about it, so let's not.

On the positive side, curry. Hell yes. I've been using the expensive-but-tasty "Thai Kitchen" gringo curry paste, but took a trip to Uwajimaya to pick up some supplies and do some science to see if I could do better. I also acquired a coffee [spice] grinder for grinding up the red pepper.

The current recipe is "a bunch" of curry paste (2-3 tbsp except for AROY-D which is an 8[!] tbsp tin), 14 oz light coconut milk, one generous tablespoon of ground red pepper, ~1.5 lbs sliced chicken breast, and 2 cups (uncooked volume) brown rice. Makes 3 servings. First foreign curry I've tried is "AROY-D", which looks and smells like cat food and has an overly hearty flavor to it. Still good, but a bit the flavor is just too heavy. Next week I'll try the "Mae Ploy" with the same coconut milk. The tbsp of red pepper did the trick for making it hot (a problem in the past), probably on par with ZenYai 4.5 stars.

Nutrition estimates (per serving): 815 Calories, 14g fat, 57g protein, 98g carbohydrates. Approximate cost $5.25 assuming you're buying fresh hippie chicken like I do. In terms of calories it's 52% carbs / 30% protein / 18% fat, which is probably protein-heavy but that's not something I worry about.
