Impact on the average person is negligible -- maybe some communication
disruption, though the industry has come a long way in preparing and
dealing with this kind of thing -- EXCEPT, you may get auroras.

--dude FUCKING AWESOME. I am so there. Northern lights happen far more often than people think--I'd say I saw them at least a dozen times every year when I worked the night shift cleaning--but this would be an unusual time for them. Ooooh.

Did you see, was it awesome?? I didn't know any non-Alaska parts of the US were far enough north to get auroras outside of special circumstances, that's way cool.

There were clouds. :( :( :(

I'd always thought the Northern Lights were pretty rare, too, but then I worked a job where I regularly was outside between two and four AM in the early spring. They aren't always brilliant, but I've seen them far more often than I would've expected.
