Have to say something about this part before I move on to the next/last.

I love your understanding of the characters. I love that they place the other one as a person above all else; that they don't gloss over each other's faults. I love that they are "real" people; that they're realistical.

And there was one part in this chapter that I absolutely adored: The way you handled the Babylon thing. From Brian's openness about it, to Justin's understanding what Babylon really stands for in Brian's life, as well as Justin's ideas for a new Babylon and the reference to Mies van der Rohe which was totally fitting.

Thank you. I truly appreciate such a thoughtful comment.

I think what annoyed me most about canon S5 was that somehow both Justin and Brian became non-characters - they existed purely as plot devices and mouth-pieces. If that makes sense. Brian's "I'm a cock-sucker" rant right at the beginning of the series kind of set the tone for me, because to me it was totally OOC for Brian to do such a thing. I'm not saying that the sentiments he expressed were not Brian-like, but that he would stand up there declaiming in that way was just a ridiculously contrived way for the writers to express that point of view. Ergo my perception of Brian not as character but as mouthpiece. And there were many, many scenes where I felt the same was done to Justin. As much as anything else in writing Reverb I wanted to ... restore their humanity. To let them be themselves, to be the wonderful, fascinating, flawed people that we'd seen for the first four seasons. (Well, the first three anyway, I'm still ambiguous about S4 ( ... )

I totally agree about S5, and I thank you so so much for bringing the humanity back to them, because they deserve it and they're amazing characters.

So I ask him, what about the pool boy, and he says that we’re not going to be able to afford a pool boy, so I’ll have to take on the job myself. He gives my ass a little squeeze and says I’d look hot in short shorts but I’d have to wear like three bottles of sunscreen if I want to go topless.

This made me laugh, so cute!
