Wow I get to comment first! Great chapter. I don't have any legal experience either. But I also found it odd that Ben could hit someone in front of a police officer and not be punished in some way (either criminal or civil). But the entire 5th season felt like it needed several more episodes. Maybe with more time, they would have addressed the logic breaks.
Thanks. It wasn't just odd ... it was bizarre. I mean, the incident isn't even mentioned again. And it wasn't just some random guy - he was supposedly a member of a group who would have loved to have gone after one of the "perverts" and haul him into court. Just ridiculous.
I'm not sure that more time would have changed it. I don't think they would ever have let anything really bad happen to dear little Mikey's partner. Even the AIDs thing has been kept minimized. And, since Ben had one small episode with an AIDS related illness back in S2 or whenever it was, then I think that one would have to say he has AIDS rather than just being positive. But no sign of it since then.
I'm just bitter. All the really bad stuff kept being saved for BJ. *sigh* (Well aside from Vic's death of course. I miss Vic.)
Because my own happily ever after is sitting in the car with me, plotting revenge for all the hurts he thinks I've suffered over all that shit, and just that thought wipes away all the other dramas and reduces them to fucking pin pricks that hardly register in the scheme of things.
This is my favorite part!! The way they both protect and take care of the other...love it. Ted and Emmett showed again how great they are, good friends.
So glad for the update, I live for new chapters of my favorites. Looking forward to the next one too...no pressure, LOL!!
I have wondered if I was the only one who thought it was wrong for Ben to have gone after that guy. It always seemed wrong that there weren't any consequences. Hobbs was was wrong but so was Ben. Although I have to say it felt good to see it. Season 5 was so odd on many levels. So glad you are feeling this story again! Happy Valentines Day! Cindy
Hi Cindy - I think I could have handled the thing with Ben if it had been just one punch. It was the fact that he kept going and went on kicking him long after the guy had hit the ground that appalled me. In what was was this different to Hobbs, or the bullies who attacked Shandra Leer
( ... )
This may have been short but it was definitely chock full of great stuff!
I really like how you've truly connected Reverberations & Homecoming now. It all makes perfect sense. I had been questioning how often Brian & Justin connected during Justin's stint in NYC and you even answered that seamlessly.
Great chapter! I look forward to seeing how the story continues to play out.
I never bought into Brian's "you don't know that" line. I think that Justin wouldn't have been going if he hadn't been confident that he and Brian would see each other regularly. (Mind you, it's a very Brian line. *g*)
Sigh. This chapter was difficult because it is so true. Brian is damned if he helps and damned if he doesn't. It always his fault, he always has to fix things. It is painfully accurate. Thanks for the update.
Thanks, Beth. Yes, I have to admit that I find that painful also. He never seems to get a break.
I hate it that Mikey gets to move on from him and have Ben and Hunter and JR and put them first, but Mikey is still supposed to come first for Brian - at least as far as Mikey and Deb are concerned. Hate it.
Get to do something about it in my little universe at least. *g*
