ITA with just about all your points.

In fact you've hit upon all of incidents in season 4 that had me alarmed for B/J's sake. I never agree with comments that imply that it's all upto Brian to get his act together and make B/J work, or it's upto Justin alone to carry the weight of the relationship on his shoulders.

It's upto BOTH of them. They need to keep on being able to read each other. They need to be open and honest with each other. If they can do that, then their love and bond WILL survive. I have no doubt of that.

And I think the end of season 5 will be very different from how things ended in season 4. I think we'll finally see both of them on the same wavelength, ready to move on to the next level of their relationship.

NY is just another phase of their relationship. I don't see it as a breakup. I think Brian and Justin both will have opened up emotionally to each other at the end and will be stronger even if they have this small distance between them for a while.

I certainly will hope so.

I'm really glad you made this post, not because I agree with all of it, but because you are hopeful for B/J without all of the "Mary Sunshine" attitude. Your thoughts are cogent and well-reasoned, and I truly appreciate that. I've always thought that both Brian and Justin needed to grow up, but that Justin's youth gave him more of an excuse for being immature. They've definitely both been wrong many times along the way.

I've determined that I just need to wait and see how it all actually plays out during the season. I've read the spoilers and agonized over them, but until I see what Gale and Randy actually do with the dialogue and the non-verbal communication, the spoilers are just sterile indications of how the season could be. I need to see these two wonderful actors breathe life into the characters before I make up my mind that their relationship is doomed.
